If you use an iPhone, it is recommended to put it in Airplane mode and then manually make a WiFi connection with the K5.
In addition, if you make a WiFi connection between your phone and your K5, the phone sees this as access to the internet. Your K5 is then the hotspot. But since the K5 does not give access to the internet, your phone will notify you.

Did you connnect the phone with with wi-fi successfully?
If not, please check the K5 by follow steps:
Step 1: power up the K5 by usb supply to confirm if the K5 could work normally or not.
Step 2: If the K5 fail to work in step 1, then disconnect the rear camera and GPS.
Step 3: if the K5 still fail to work after step 2, please upgrade the firmware
