*Hi, we are having a eight-day break from September 28 to October 5, and may not be able to ship out the package and reply to your email on time. Thank you for your kind support.
For the tests it would be better to connect the remote control. This way you would be able to see what the K5 is doing (recording, recording paused, etc.).
And you will get a feedback when flashing the firmware (fast flashing led).
A blue light is permanently on at power supply.
The led at the power module is a status led
solid blue => Battery voltage above 12.5V. Parking mode possible
solid red => Battery voltage below 12.5V. No Parking mode possible
First I would like you to re-flash the K5 with the latest firmware. Please don't format the sd card with your computer, but with the K5 by using the app.
When flashing is done, please use the app to connect to the K5 and sychronize the time. When done, please let the K5 record some videos and post the list of video file on the sd card.
You said that the K5 randomly stops recording. So I think we should first find out whether your K5 does a normal shutdown or crashes/looses power.
A good test is to set the video format to MP4 and then wait for the K5 to stop recording again. MP4 files very likely get corrupted when not closed properly.
So when the K5 stopped recording again, you can check the last video. If it is playable, the K5 very likely did a normal shutdown. If it is corrupted, the K5 very likely crashed or had a power lost.
If the video is playable (K5 did a normal shutdown), we should take a look at the power module and especially at the connection of the yellow cable, as this "tells" the K5 when to start or to shut down. An easy test is to connect the yellow wire, together with the red and black wire, to the battery to make the K5 "think" ignition is switch on. The K5 should start and keep recording as long as the yellow wire is connect to the battery. Of course it does not need to be the battery. Any 12V power source will do the job.
If the video is not playable (K5 crashed or lost power), we need to test the DVR without the power module by powering it by USB for a while. If it runs fine, the power module (or its connections) may be the culprit. If the DVR crashes when powered by USB, we have to find out why.
I don't tamper with settings as I need simplicity and reliability. This is a work vehicle rather than a hobby. It's required for safety recordings during operation.
I went to great lengths in installation. I water-proofed all connections. I inserted cables in conduit where required. I manufactured new brackets for a safer location. I used rubberised mounts to avoid vibration.
Essentially I NEVER wanted to interfere or repair this unit again.
The work is significant in removing the unit for repair/maintenance.

I understand that you are upset, because such devices should simple work as intended. But hey....it is not my fault it does not. I am not Innovv and simply want to help you. But to find out what is going wrong, you would need to do some tests.
Or, as an alternative, remove everything and send it back. It is your choice. 😉
The yellow wire is to the ignition. It begins when engine is started.
The supply wire is directly to battery. Same for negative wire.
Both cameras are protected from weather. Both are tilted downwards as a low sun caused interference (blooming). Two previous cameras have been used and I've learned from hiccups in past u it's.
Thanks for your support to INNOVV for years, we are so sorry for the problem, could you please update the latest firmware from https://www.innovv.com/firmware-app ? And also the SD card slot cover should be fixed with the screw, we can send a few piece if posisble, also, can you use a USB power supply to power the K5? Besides the current problem, does the video behave well?
Yea, the file dates are as you stated but the K5 doesn't know that. It keeps many files in sequence then jumps to another sequence but returns to its original sequence. It just makes no sence to me.
I'm not technically minded, I just need it to work, it doesn't. My work is high risk and I need these events recorded for the safety file and possible litigation.

So you mean one file is named correctly by the date, the next is named by a complete different date and then the next is named back correctly?

I've no idea why it stops recording while running.
Ok. So we have two problems here. One is that the file names aren't correct and the other is, that the K5 stops recording randomly.
First question is, what are the leds showing when the K5 stops recording, especially the green led? Is it flashing? If yes, 2 times per second or 5 times per second?
How did you connect the power module, especially the yellow wire? Do you use something like cansmart?
For a test, you could connect the red and yellow wire together to the battery (or better another 12V source) to let it run for a while. Just to check whether the K5 stops recording this way, too.
If yes, you could power the K5 by USB and test this again. This way we could check if it is the power module or the DVR itself.
I've no idea why it stops recording while running. The files simply aren't there. One event it stopped recording one hour earlier but began recording 10 minutes AFTER the event (I also use satellite tracking but each provides a different service).
The remote unit is not fitted to avoid possible issues.
Where are the flashing lights?

Thank you.
What steps should I take to resolve this. (I'll ask a pal with tech knowledge to help).

Maybe you can send us a few video of the light indicators for a check, you can upload the files to https://www.dropbox.com/request/TksyE9HmvJkIji92GSzg.
We hope to resolve the probelm as soon as possible.
After my use of the K2, I was reluctant to buy another. However, reviews insisted it was the best on the market and worthwhile.
It's manufacture quality is definitely good. Its operation is experimental and Sometimes excellent.

The G sensor is off. The parking mode is off. I just want it simple and reliable. But I need the data occasionally, if it worked.
No files have been moved to other folders, I've checked all folders.
Sometimes it'll run perfectly. Twice this year it has failed me when I urgently needed the recording.
The recorded file dates are stored erratically. They are not consequetive. One has to search all dates to find a recent one.
On installation all cables were tightened and sealed.
The grub screws over SD cover were both lost on installing the SD. I saw them fall but are too small to be seen.
It won't allow me connect to take a snap.
I've experience of parking mode, hence it is disabled. The memory is not yet full. It occasionally runs.
I changed from TS to MP4 hoping it'll improve.
I noticed some recordings also don't show its speed, though its supposed to (it did in the past).
It's a mess really for such an expensive unit. At that cost one would expect no issues. Life is too short.
Yes. They're erratic. They are not listed new to old OR old to new. The new files are half way back in recordings.
Also it's erratic in recording. Sometimes it does record. It's great quality when it does.
I bought two K5's but didn't bother installing the 2nd when the first has issues. I need reliability.
I previously had a K2.
What exactly do you mean? The date in the filenames?
