@INNOVV Teamn I am an extremely unhappy customer at this point in time. Apart from having issues viewing files on my phone (long thread here: https://www.innovv.com/forum/innovv-k5/video-viewing ), and having to remove the card to view videos on my laptop, and no resolution forthcoming, my K5 is now also not recording huge sections of riding.
I had an accident today and need to see the footage, and guess what - about 2 hours, obviously including that event, is not even recorded. Last recording was half an hour before, and next one starts an hour and a half later. A few 1 minutes videos, then nothing for an hour and a half, and then a few 5 minutes videos. (My setting is on 5 minutes.)
Totally defeats the object having a 'premium' product as a dashcam that only records now and then. (I did check the accident, protected, and main folders.)
My card is not full, it's a 256 card, and only half of it used, as I formatted it last time when I couldn't view my files as per other thread.
I have been having issues with my K5 on and off for a long time now, and would need to look at finding something better if you don't have some solutions for this.
I switched to MP4. I have some weird mis-takes at the start, but I kept turning off and on the bike, so maybe we can discount those, although it's ridiculous that on & off would send the camera system into apoplexy. It then did a decent job for about 28 minutes of riding (except it put most of the files in Accident folder! WTF?) I moved them all to one folder, and I get one file per camera per minute (with one missing REAR camera file around the 28 min mark) and then a corrupt F file with no R file at what would have been 31min. But then it picks up at 32min, even though I'd parked by then, and records one last file after key-off for 27 seconds. Again, the SD card passed all tests with flying colors. I wonder if the yellow-wire thing I stubbed into could be the problem. I just don't want to SOLDER on the bike. :-p That's definitely the next step though. Or maybe I'll hardwire the yellow to the positive battery terminal and install a manual switch. It's very strange that everything works just fine for so long, and then it just !@#$%s up during the most interesting/useful/sexy points in my ride! :-p
I have the same problem. A truck was chasing me trying to murder me, and I only have the first few minutes of the chase, then a couple of shorter videos, then nothing. I was going to hand this over to my lawyer, but there's no data. WTF INNOVV?!? Either fix this, or I want my money back! :-p
I am in the process of trying Frostie's suggestions. I too thought it might be a power problem, because my K5's screws don't screw all the way down, but you'd think that wiggling the connector around in the garage would cause the lights to go out or something.... I'm using SanDisk SD cards. Does anyone have any suggestions for "test software"? I figured I'd just write a 400GB file and then cmp it to be sure it copied over, but that's not really a good TEST.
I also find it strange that it sometimes records for 1 minute only. It does process the file otherwise it would be garbage. Any idea about that?
What firmware is installed?
Is the error reproduceable or does it come and go?
Does it only happens while driving or also while standing still in the garage?
There can be several reasons why the K5 (or any other dashcam) stops recording. Beside software issues, the most likely cause are connection or power issues. A bad connection to the rear cam, for example, can make the K5 crash while recording.
Or a loose connection at the red or yellow cable of the power module can make the K5 switch off or shut down. There can also be an issue with the sd card, which can cause problems. I experienced myself a problem at the K2, where the sd card (cheap no-name card for testing) was a little bit too thin, which caused connection issues in the sd slot while riding.
If the error is reproduceable, you could first power the K5 by USB (wall charger with at least 2A) and check if this solves the problem. If yes, there is a problem with the power connection or supply.
Did you format the card in your computer or in the K5 last time?
It is recommended to format the card in the K5.
Do you have the option to do a scan on your card to see if the card is not defective?
