Does the position (horizontal/vertical) and alignment (right side up, up side down) of the GPS antenna significantly impact its performance?
I have mounting positions that are on the underside of a horizontal panel or on a vertically positioned panel and need to pick the best option.
Thank you.
Paul
I imagine that the more of it (the top) that's facing up the better. But while testing mine, I just had it dangling from my handlebars (which made it vertical) and it connected very well. Just my experience so far. Others much more knowledgeable than I, will give you a better answer.
Yes, you are right. The more of the antenna that's facing up the better, especially in somewhere remote.
I have hidden my GPS unit under the dashboard. The tape is on the top of the antenna. Antenna is placed fairly horizontally.
No reception problems so far.
@Hans, I see you moved your GPS mount since your original photos on Facebook. This location is better.
@Paul Anderson thanks. The initial setup was for testing only. So I didn't spend too much time on the installation.
Recently removed the K2 from the engine and installed the K5 neater. I mounted the GPS module in the same place where the GPS module of the K2 was previously placed.
