Now updated to V2.0 with improvements to make the protector more sleek.
Hey there, So I've made parts for the Innovv cameras before (mounts for the K2 in the Yamaha community) but this is my first mass retail sale of parts specifically for the C5, K2, K3,K5. These are lens protectors that I used for a year and 4000 miles in desert/snow/rain/hot/cold and it saved my K2 camera from a lot of damage. These are made of some of the more durable material you can 3D print with, Carbon Fiber Nylon/PA6. These protectors come with a K5 specific fitment, (and K2/3/C5/K5 Rear cam), and offer Sapphire lenses for incredibly scratch resistance/durability (mineral glass is available for a fraction of the price, many will just get multiple cheap lenses as well). This is the only lens protector for a action cam that offers Sapphire lenses! Click this link to get the lens protector! https://jk3d.us/product/jk3d-actioncam-lens-protector-v2/
NOT A GOOD OPTION!!! Please see my comments on how this protector needs to be vented or it will fog up more than it will ever be clear. It traps moisture.....it needs VENT HOLES or it is absolutely pointless. Great idea, but it needs to be perfected....vents are mandatory or it's pointless. I drilled several holes in it myself, but it needs real intentionally made holes. DO NOT PUT ON YOUR CAMERA WITHOUT VENT HOLES.
Ok, I got your lens protector and I love it. Very much needed product, and thank you. Ended up costing me about 50 euro after shipping to Italy. However, I found a flaw you may want to address. If installed correctly, there is an immense amount of moisture inside of the lens after riding in the rain. I discovered the issue after the first downpour I rode through, and then it happened again after another storm a week later. I solved this condensation build up by drilling holes in the side of the black ring so that air could get in, I have not tested it in the rain but I hope to soon. So I solved this problem, and then found out my rear camera is now fogged up (with no protector of course)….I can’t win. 😂
EDIT.....why no answer from the maker of this protection? Are you pretending the problem doesn't exist? Pics don't lie.
Note JK3D.us will be closed most of May 2023, if you want to get a lens protector before June, please order before May 9th 2023! (all orders placed after may 9th will ship on may 30th. )
Just bought a set (front and back) hopefully as good in real life as they appear!
I've updated pricing due to being able to source a cost savings on the Sapphire crystal used. The price is a few dollars cheaper now for the sapphire option! https://jk3d.us/product/jk3d-actioncam-lens-protector-v2/
A new version of the lens protector is now shipping. I've been ramping up designing and tweaking this. I've been testing this updated design for a few thousand miles on the bike, and it is done. The updated design makes the clamp just on one side, and makes the front face better reinforced. This also gives some protection to the clamp area. I also thinned out front bezel by .5mm as the extra material there was not needed.
Since the end of March, I've shipped to over 20 countries worldwide now for these lens protectors! Happy to see everyone getting them!
From last count I believe I've shipped ~ 30 K5 lens protectors now (and more than that for K2/K3/C5 cameras.) wanted to say thanks and hope everyone is getting good use out of them!
I've updated the listing, I now have a supply of lenses, sapphire and mineral glass and all fittings for all the camera types. I appreciate all the folks who ordered already and have let me know they like them :)
Note - I have a report that the front K5 camera may be a tad smaller than the specs and engineering info I have may indicate. This may require a slightly different part. Anyone who has ordered one that has fitment issues please let me know. I am working with one customer already on this and will be sure to make this 100% right. I will also proactively be reaching out to anyone whos ordered these once I have a fix sorted. Turns out the front camera is not 25mm as listed on the site and such for the K5 front, but ~ 22mm. This is a substantial change and I am designing a fix now to mail out to all customers later this week. There is now a K5 specific question on the order page as well.
