I was wondering if there is a possibility to connect K3 to my lan WIFI as a client.
With file sharing of course.
So, when motorcycle is in the house garage, it would be possible for me to watch and retreive on my computer the videos of the day.
Possible or not ?
I must add that K3 is really a good system. Even if the wifi is not visible some times :p (havent understand why allready).
And a great and happy new year for innovv teams because they helped me so mutch while installing my K1 (Rest in peace).
Hello Frostie
I am not sure thats an argue. Let me explain.
The base working of a dashcam is 'Install and forget'.
I am using my bicycle every day as i use it to go to work.
And i have no more use the app since i finished configuration.
And i guess, i wont use it anymore. I would prefer connect directly the computer to grab the videos.
Really you work is good. If i remember well (not sure), you said that with your modifications, you can anyway control the DVR with specific URL's. Thats quiet easy to hide in an android app.
Imagine if you can have the DVR working like a NAS. With a website inside to access params and videos, just like most of the connected objects. When in range, it'll get an IP from lan (or just fixed one, or even DLNA) and then be accessible from lan.Ok then you may wont be able to use the app outside your lan but really, it would be interesting to know how mutch users of Kx watch the videos "outside of their home".
Then for the battery saving, you can use the really standard WOL to wake up the DVR only when you need it.
Well i may be dreaming, but i still think there are solutions for using the DVR just as a lan video server ^^.
Hello there,
Sorry not to answer faster.
I think i will try the solution just for fun, and see how it works, particularly speed connection.
Just to understand, K3 was a choice, it's just that i havent any place to put the combined DVR/CAM. Way too big to place between my two front opticals (CBF1000AA).
It would be so fun if they find a solution to connect the DVR as client to the home WIFI. Dunno what way.
Thanks for your help and i will report you here when i get time to try.
Have a nice day.
Pat.

From the firmware site, both K2 and K3 looks quite similar. So almost everything I wrote about the K2 also applies to the K3.
You can set the K3 to STA mode to make it join your home wlan. The steps are described in the topic Hans mentioned above. Neither the K2 nor the K3 will save these settings, means after a reboot, the K2/K3 will automatically switch back to AP mode. So the described steps are more for testing than for practical use.
To let the K3 automatically join your home wlan whenever it is in range, you would need to modify the firmware of the K3, which is not that difficult. I described the necessary steps in the K2 forum in this topic.
The drawback of modifying the firmware to permanent STA mode is, that you will not be able to use the App anymore. Instead you would need to use http commands to configure the K3.
But as Hans also already explained, the K3 wifi is way too slow to download all videos in a reasonable time.
There are no wrong questions....
I once had a similar idea myself.
You can download the video via a web browser.
In the forum I found two topics for this (for the K2 and the K5) both described by Frostie. You may also be able to do this with the K3.
https://www.innovv.com/forum/innovv-k2/how-to-access-hidden-features
https://www.innovv.com/forum/innovv-k5/how-to-access-hidden-features-at-the-k5
You just need to find a solution to keep your K3 powered on while downloading.
Hello Hans,
And happy new year.
Say that way ... and if i mind about the fact i found my battery always low ... maybe its not a good idea ^^.
Thanks for you point of view ! Wrong question.
Pat.
I don't know how and off this is possible. Maybe @Frostie can tell you more about this.
What is a point of attention is that the K3 must remain on while sharing the videos. With a normal installation on your motorcycle, this means that the ignition must remain on. Because the WiFi connection is not really very fast, this means that your contact must remain on for a long, long time.
And I wonder if you want this.
