I Installed my K3 only a few days ago and thought that Id upgrade the firmware to the latest version. I have come across 2 things that I am having problems with. Front/rear camera resolutions and parking feature. Could the new firmware be the issue? I didn't take screenshots before I upgraded but I'm sure that before I upgraded I had the ability to set my front camera to a different resolution to my rear.

Now it appears that Both cameras are now locked to one of 3 choices only. 720 and 2 versions of 1080. I cannot make the front record to 1080 and the rear 720.

The other difference is the Parking mode. I cannot get it to record no matter what I do. I have tried the G sensor on both 1 bar and all 5 bars and shake the bike quite violently and no recording. Also tried it with and without Gravity Acceleration and same result. The battery is reading above 12 volts so I cant see why it is not working. Any ideas?

I have the same camera and all is sweet with the lithium battery in my new bike. It is good to see all this support for your great product.
Just returned from 2855km trip. Video footage I have viewed so far is awesome. Very happy with this K3. I will make video again of parking test this time showing remote controller LED's.
Hello Jeff, I showed the video to our engineer and we suggest you turn on the ignition and let the K3 DVR on for a while, and then turn off the ignition and shake your bike, see if it is recording or not.
Which multimeter should you trust? Purely on brand I would say the Fluke. But which of the 2 multimeters is calibrated?
And maybe confusion on my part. By the line "When I shake the bike the light flicks fast between red and blue then afterwards goes to a steady blue again." I thought you meant the LEDs on the remote control. These must flash when movement is detected in the parking mode, the ignition must be off. The LEDs on the power supply should remain lit continuously. In the video I can't see what the LEDs on the remote control are doing.
If the LEDs on the power module are flashing, it seems that according to the power module, the voltage just fluctuates around 12.5V. After all, there is a tipping point at which the power module has to decide whether the voltage is right or too low.
According to your multimeter it would also mean that the power module has a deviation of 12,63V - 12,5V = 0.13V.
@INNOVV would you like to think the problem of the blue/red flashing LED on the power module?
Please see attached video. I added a second multimeter to compare the readings. There is a discrepancy so I will test the original dc/dc converter again later. I have been doing this so long that the battery does occasionally need charging due to ignition / headlight on with wifi. The battery charger is in the off position but was left connected. I managed to film the blue/red flashing. There is no green. I have never seen a green? I shook the bike enough for it to trigger but nothing. I have checked the parking folder on the app and its empty.
Hi Jeff it's great that the converter problem has now been resolved, or at least it's clear what the problem is. The recordings made with the parking mode should be visible in the Parking Videos folder. You can also check this if you insert the SD card into your computer and then see what has been recorded.
If all is well, the green LED should start flashing when a parking video is made. If the red and blue LEDs are flashing, something is still wrong.
See also below what is in the user manual.
If your ignition is on and you take a normal video while shaking the engine, no camera will fall out?
Hopefully you can solve all the problems in time for your vacation.
Swapped the converter with the other unit and it looks to be working properly now, steady blue light. I leave for my holiday in roughly 24hours with this bike so will discuss this with the dealer later. For now I will stay up all night ( your day) to get little things working. When bike is parked the light is constant blue. When I shake the bike the light flicks fast between red and blue then afterwards goes to a steady blue again. Are these files supposed to be written into the parking folder? Access via App shows a folder named parking but videos are not inside?
I appreciate your help Hans.
It does indeed appear that the power converter is causing the problem.
Hopefully the other power converter will work and you can use it pending when your dealer can supply a new one.
I'm starting to think its the DC to DC converter that is the problem with the parking mode
. It will not go to a solid blue to indicate there is more than 12.5v . Could this be keeping the parking mode from working? Attached picture shows 12.84v and dc/dc converter is still solid red? I have a variable charger so I upped it to 12.95v and same thing. I need to get this one sorted before i leave on my week long trip.
Thanks.
Well ! Battery was showing 12.44v , just under the 12.5 needed. I originally thought it was higher. 5 mins after I put the battery on charge the steady red light turned to Blue. I will leave it overnight and test again tomorrow. Thank you Hans. You may have fixed the parking issue.
I do still have 2 questions about the resolution settings in this new firmware. I bought 2 of these K3 from Shark leathers in QLD so I'm weighing up whether to upgrade the second unit or keep it non upgraded.
What would be the reason lock front and rear cameras to a single resolution and drop the ability to have front camera 1080 and rear at 720? I can think of more reasons to split them than to combine into one so I am curious what may have brought on this decision.
As I now have 3 resolutions to choose from I have googled everything I can to see if there what difference between 1080P30 and 1080P28 other than 2 frames per second? Is there another difference?
Can you tell if the blue LED on the power supply is on when your motorcycle's ignition is off?
If it is not lit, the battery voltage is too low and the parking mode is disabled.
Any idea why I cant get a recording in parking mode? I'm worried It wont record if someone hits my bike while I'm not around it. I shock my bike quite violently. It should have recorded something.
The camera settings are now the same for the front and rear camera, and indeed 3 choices. But I still have to check this with my own K3 just to be sure.
The sensitivity of the parking mode cannot be adjusted.
The G-sensor setting is only for the sensitivity while driving.
Gravity acceleration is only registering gravity and displaying it at the bottom of the screen. More is currently not possible with this setting.
