As my CB500F is under warranty, I would like to avoid to connect the ACC Wire.
So, can I connect the Red and Black cable to my Power Supply and use a USB cable connect to USB Plug (which is after ignition)?
Right now, I have only plug the usb cable and everything is fine. But I would like to take benefits if the Parking Mode, so can I plug the Red and Black cable to my Power Supply with no risk?
thanks for your help
I prefer to let a professional do it. I'm afraid to make a mistake that could damage my CB500F or make my power supply empty.
If you are not sure how to do it and/or have at least a little bit of experience in electric installations, it is surely better to let a professional do it. Should not be that complicated and therefore not expensive.
Thanks a lot. Very clear. I had a quote of 200€ for the full installation, that's why I did it by myself. But I think, I will ask a quote for just the power installation. I prefer to let a professional do it. I'm afraid to make a mistake that could damage my CB500F or make my power supply empty.
Hi Rodolphe,
as you´ve already found out, you can run the K3 just by USB. This is ok for testing and accessing the SD Card, but it is not intended for normal operations.
The first problem that arises by using only USB is, that the K3 does not know when it should power down. Instead you switch it off the hard way, which could lead to file system corruption on the sd card. If you use MP4 file format, the last videos will always get corrupted.
Second problem is, that the USB port is not vibration resistant. So by the time the motor vibrations can cause connection issues at the USB port.
But I would like to take benefits if the Parking Mode, so can I plug the Red and Black cable to my Power Supply with no risk?
Here, again, it is the problem, that the K3 would not know when to leave parking mode and start normal recording. Or when to stop recording and enter parking mode.
I would think that, if the K3 is in parking mode and you then power it by USB, it will simply stay in parking mode.
The K3 needs the yellow cable connected to switched power to know whether ignition is switched on or off.
As my CB500F is under warranty, I would like to avoid to connect the ACC Wire.
There is no need to cut a ACC wire, if that is the reason for your concerns. You could search for a plug which has switched power, buy the corresponding plugs and build yourself a Y-wire get switched power. For example...I am sure that your USB ports is connected to 12V and that you can use this plug to get switched power.
That´s the way I connected the yellow wire at my bike (which was 2 month old at that moment) :-)
Hello Rodolphe, If you do not connect the yellow wire and only connect red and black cable to your battery, then the DVR can not work because the products requires all those three cable to be connected.
You can use the dash cam with a USB power bank , but in that way you can not use the packing mode.
The packing mode only can be work when you connect all those three cables.
