Hi all !
K2 owner since June 2018, it works pretty well on my BMW 1200 GS. I changer it for a Triumph 1200 Tiger Explorer last April. All was fine until September, I guess.
I have three main issues I can not resolve:
-When I want to check parameter in the app (wifi and airplane mode ON, app up to date), the app crash down
-When I check what is recorded on the SD card, I found only one folder called "video". And there, I found mp4 files. Sometimes theses files are only parking files (seems to be limited to 2 Gb), or theses files record ALL my rides. I have no files corresponding to shock (like up/down pavement or speed bump I experiment before). If one time I experiment to record all my ride, does this is true until I change this parameter?
-When I park my bike, the K2 turns off... a very long time after it has been parked (and ingnition off). I often experiment this more than one hour after
And last one, I unfortunaly experiment low side. I wanted to check what happen, but the only files I found was...when I started again my bike to finish my ride, no marks off my feat !
I hope you will understand what I mean and someone have ideas to solve this.
Hi lfup,
The VIDEO folder is used for all normal video files recorded during riding. The PARK folder instead is only used for a) videos recorded if the parking mode kicks in or b) if the G-Sensor registers a shock higher than the given threshold.
So if your K2 does not move files to the PARK folder when riding over bumps, but you want the K2 to do this, you have to enable the G-Sensor and set the desired G-Sensor sensitivity.
Sorry. I don't get what you mean.
When you switch off ignition, the K2 should shutdown after around 10 seconds. If your does not and keeps running, I guess that the yellow cable is not connected to switch 12V power.
What Tiger 1200 do you own? The older one or the new one with TFT-Display? And where did you connect the yellow cable to?
Thanks for heping me Frostie !
So, OK, with my 1200 GS, I had 2 folder: Video and Park. Not with the Triumph. I will check the G sensor connection
With my BMW, I tried one time to record during a ride (not only due to G sensor sensibility). I ask myself if I set parameter to record ONE ride today K2 will record my ride tomorrow and after (until I turn off this parameter) ?
It is the last one, with TFT-Display. I connect the yellow cable under passenger seat, in the USB plug. I saw you have the same Tiger. Were do you connect it?
Any idea for the app crash? I can connect and see what camera is recording.
My phone is a Oneplus 5, I also tried with a Xaomi Mi A2: same issue
Thx
Hi lfup,
I am still not sure if I got what you mean.
There is no "record only my next ride" or "record only after shock" setting. After you switch on ignition, the K2 powers up and starts recording till you switch ignition off.
So it is a continuous recording. If you enable the G-Sensor and the K2 detects a shock, the video will be stored in the PARK folder, where it is write protected. This is to avoid the video gets overwrittten by cyclic recording.
If you really put the yellow cable into the USB-Plug, than it is clear why your K2 does not start up correctly. The power supply needs 12V at the yellow cable to detect the ignition is switched on. But the USB-Plug only delivers 5V.
There are two plugs where you can get switched 12V, but only while the engine is running. It is not enough to switch on ignition only.
The first one is the plug where the USB-Adapter is connected to. You can remove the USB-Plug and use the 12V plug for the yellow cable of the K2 instead. This is the way I did. The cable is long enough to remove the USB-Adapter without having to dismount anything.
The second plug is right beside the mentioned plug. It is used to supply power to the Topcase (if you have a topcase with this feature). Normally there is nothing connected and it is closed with a blind plug.
The plug delivering power to the USB-Adapter is a Sumitomo HM Sealed plug

Remember to order the necessary Terminals and Seals, too.
The plug for the Topcase is from a different manufacturer I don't know. So if you want to use it, you have to ask your Triumph dealer where to get it.
No. Neither do I have any problems with the app nor do I have an Android to test it myself.
Sorry, I needed time to check how I plug the yellow cable.
When I install K2, I first wanted to connect to USB cable, but I saw the same plug you talk about. So I connect the cable to the same plug in your picture. So this part is OK... but do not still work
For the app crash, I will try to update firmware (app is already updated)
So you connected the yellow cable to the 2-pin plug which delivers power to the USB adapter. Correct?
Silly question, but did you check you choose the correct 12V cable in the plug?
Where did you connect the red and black cable?
Could you post some pictures of your installation? This would help the to sort out some possible error sources.
-When I want to check parameter in the app (wifi and airplane mode ON, app up to date), the app crash down
Do you have the location function on? You need to turn on location while the APP is running or you might get this situation.
We recommend driving the G sensor to low to try, and if no video has been saved to the park file in the event of a major shock, you can try adjusting the sensor to middle.
Or you can try the methods @Frostie recommended.
@Frostie sorry, I can not upload picture... Too big, too long time to upload
The yellow cable is connect to a +12V plug (verified today)
When ignition is ON, the cam goes ON. When I switch OFF my bike, K2 always stays ON, and with the app, I can see cam is recording, more than 30 minutes after ignition is OFF...
@innovv, yes, location is ON on my smartphone
Finaly, I upgrade with latest firmware, and:
-now, I can go into app setting without crash (!)
-now, the cam goes ON 5 second after ignition is ON, and goes OFF 5 or 10 seconds after ignition is OFF
I use to update firmware each time app is updated but it seems I miss last one. Will not be possible to have a notification in the app, remaining us a new firmware is available?
Thanks for time helping me
Now let's ride !
That's great!
In general, if we release a new firmware, you will be notified in the APP's settings. You might want to keep an eye out for that next time. :)
