Recently I wanted to check/change the settings on my K2 recorder. All seemed to be working normally as I could see both cameras and I could view files etc but every time I tried to enter the 'settings' screen to make minor changes to my set-up the App just closed.
Any help or advice re this problem would be much appreciated.
Success. Latest firmware did not work. I reformatted to fat32 using a program in win 10, since that will only format eXfat or NTFS. Put the latest firmware on it as suggested and powered up the device using external supply. The lights flashed on the K2 as expected but I couldn't get it to work as I got a error message regarding the SD card. I checked the SD card and the K2 file was still there. I deleted it and replaced it with 0.67 firmware. This time I got the message add lenses! Googling this, I turned my phone into airplane mode with WiFi enabled and it all worked fine. I'll leave it at that and ignore future firmware updates.
Done that. Didn't fix the problem. I have no idea if it worked though as the lights did not flash on the from of the device as suggested in the instructions and the settings crashes. However the K2 file was deleted from the sd card when I checked a while later.
I have the same problem with the app crashing when trying to access settings. I Have tried 2 phones, OnePlus 6t android 10 and Samsung J5 Android 6.01. Cameras are still recording though. I have tried all the ideas suggested here. Either the App is duff or something in the box is crashing the app. Oddly enough I was working right up until I reformatted the SD card using the App. I have since reformatted the DS card with a PC, and still no joy. The App shows video on my phone and is being recorded.
Hi Rock,
i will post some vids one of these days....
Everything is up to date except the K2 and i have the latest IOS version, and yes after every ride the K2 keeps running around 2 hours after cutting ignition.
The reason why I didn’t update the K2 is because I didn’t have any issues anymore with it so i thought why update, but now all hell has broken lose.
You have to understand, i have 3 K2’s running, i am a biker, not a computer-wiz so all the tech-lingo about the sdcards, exfat, ip and so one is Chinese for me, all was running great and life was simple, but now......
Hello all, just came back from a 4000km off-road/roadtrip, the k2 started out all ok but halfway things started going downhill, i can acces the videofiles and the livefeed but when i access the settings the app crashes, don’t know if it has something to with the same error but the k2 keeps running for arround 2 hours after putting off the ignition.
IOS app on iPhone 7 plus and firmware v59, this because I didn’t experience anymore problems so i didn’t update the firmware under the motto “ never change a winning team” but here we are.....
For some know reason I can now access 'settings' without being thrown. Good, but have no idea why it is now working normally.
The app crashes on my phone as above, but works on via my Samsung S5e tablet. Very odd.
Well...in that case the App really needs some bugfixing.
Mine crashes too. I have a Samsung Note 10+ 5g, and every time I try to access settings, the app crashes.
Do you get access via browser using http://192.168.1.254 when connected to the K2?
If yes, you could check the version using http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=3012
You could also export all settings of your K2 (cmd=3002) and post them here, so I could check if I can see something weird.
I loaded K2.20190614 VO.57 via my SD card but I'm not sure it actually took effect as I am unable to get into 'settings' to check.
Yes, Some problem happens to Galaxy S9 and the Plus.
If the problem is still there after firmware and App update, follow below to do further check,
1. Turn your phone to airplane mode.
2. Enable WiFi only.
3. Connect App.
Thanks again Frostie, will follow Rock Liu's querry first see how I get on.
Rock Liu, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S9+ fully updated. I have not changed the software on the K2 as I saw on this forum that later versions may not be good with the S9. K2 is running 20190420.vo.49 I think, as I've not updated since I bought the K2 in June 2019.
Paul.
Beside of Frostie's advise, can you let me know what phone mode you have?
Download the last firmware from website and App to reinstall.
It is sometimes hard to hit the reset switch, as it is very tiny.
You could try the software way to reset the K2.
Connect to K2 wifi
When connected, open a browser and enter http://192.168.1.254 You should see a webpage then.
If you see the webpage, then enter the following URL http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=3011
This will do the same as pushing the reset switch.
If this does not help with you problem, you could re-flash the firmware as a last resort.
Thanks Frostie, tried to do a reset as you suggested but dont think I was able to do it. I carefully inserted impliment into the reset hole but could not seem to feel anything like a reset switch. Any tips regarding this?
I can only assume that there is a setting on your K2 which lets the App to crash/close. So you could try to reset the settings by pressing the reset button or by accessing the following URL when connected to your K2 wifi. http://192.168.1.254/?custom1&cmd=3011
