I'm at a slight disadvantage, as my bike is still in a container ship, travelling back to the US, but I'll see if I can make my point clearly enough.
I've been told that if I connect to the K2, using WiFi, and the K2 App on my cell phone, that the time would be correctly set within the K2. I'm afraid that this is not correct, at least it's not correct under a few sets of circumstances.
First of all, in certain parts of the world, you need to set your phone to override the current time, and set it manually. For instance, all of China uses a single timezone (Beijing time), but my iPhone got confused, and thought that there were multiple time zones, and so, I had to override the time setting. As a result, although I connected my iPhone to the K2WiFi, and then enabled the IOS app, and selected settings, I still ended up with a situation where the time on the K2 was at least 1 hour different from the time on my phone.
Throughout my trip, I often tried to get the time of the K2 to be properly set, and I think that I achieved it only once. In all other cases, it was between 1 and 2 hours off.
So, my question is, why don't you allow me to set the time, or select the time zone within the K2, rather than relying on using the Phone? As IOS versions on the phone change, it is likely that they'll handle time zones differently, perhaps forcing you to make odd choices in some cases, but if I was able to manually set the time zone in the K2, we eliminate any chance that the system will have the wrong time.
The outcome, if you want to set the time, connect to the K2 over WiFi, set the time, and exit. It's just about perfect, and it addresses all of the possible irregularities that exist as we travel around the world.
Thoughts?
Good, I hope that helps. Like many workarounds, though, it's fairly fragile. All I have to do is forget, connect to the camera through the App, mess with settings, and my K2 clock is again synced to phone time.
Excellent idea,
I kinda wish I had thought of it earlier. But, better late than never.
The dilemma that I face is that I believe that many of the things that I saw with how the time is set on the K2 are not reproducible when I'm here in the US. When my bikes arrives home, I'll certainly do some testing, but I never saw any of these problems while riding in the US.
Nevertheless, I'll do the testing, and report back.

Clifford, I think I may have figured out a workaround.
Caveat: I'm not sure it works the same way on the iOS version of the K2 app, or with an iPhone. I have an Android phone.
Anyway, the workaround is this:
1) Change your phone time to be whatever time zone you wish. In Android, I can manually choose any time zone. For example, I like GMT/Zulu time so I choose "United Kingdom" as my region and "London" as my location.
2) Connect to the K2 through the app.
3) Go into the Settings menu of the K2 app. This should cause the DVR to set its clock to match that of the phone.
4) Exit.
Then you can set your phone back to automatically pick up local time from the cellular network (or at least you can on Android, don't know about iPhone).
I need to experiment more to be sure, but I think the K2 DVR will not reset itself to phone time again unless you both connect to the app, and go into the Settings menu.
I do not need to go into that menu very often, so it should be unlikley I would set DVR time back to phone time by accident.
I suppose that's too late to help with your trip, but it may be useful in future ones.
So, my question is, why don't you allow me to set the time, or select the time zone within the K2, rather than relying on using the Phone?
Keeping the product as simple as possible- This is the principle in my mind. You can see very less settings in App
As the K2 can automatically sync the time from phone when access App, So no time setting added on App.
For instance, all of China uses a single timezone (Beijing time), but my iPhone got confused, and thought that there were multiple time zones, and so, I had to override the time setting.
We are in China and No problem for iPhone to keep a Beijing time when across the country.
I am thinking Apple made the firmwares for yours and ours for time change according with the time zone.
You remind me that when I was USA, my iPhone could not sync the time because of daylight saving time.
As a result, although I connected my iPhone to the K2WiFi, and then enabled the IOS app, and selected settings, I still ended up with a situation where the time on the K2 was at least 1 hour different from the time on my phone.
It is unusual to have one hour different from the time on your phone.
Just checked again, we change phone time and accessed the App, the time on video was changed accordingly.
Can you try this test once your motorcycle arrived? would like to know what make such one hour difference.
