Today I downloaded all of the vids from my K2. That's when I noticed that all of the settings were of the default, and NOT the ones I had set it to. It was now on TS format (instead of mp4), KPH (instead of MPH), and 1 min loop, (instead of 3 min). I had done a search of the forums and saw that a battery inside the DVR could be the culprit. But I've only had the K2 for about 2 months, and the battery should last a lot longer than that unless mine was on a shelf for a long time. How long should the battery in the DVR last? It could have reverted back to default settings after an app update. It shouldn't, but it could. It could have reverted back to defaults after disconnecting the battery to do about an hours worth of work to put on new fog lights. (That would indicate the DVR battery doesn't last very long.) But it shouldn't revert back with a 2 month old unit.
Some little critter could have crawled under the seat, opened the rubber protector over the reset button and pressed it, but I don't think that happened. Whatever caused my settings to revert back to default settings is a mystery. BUT... I don't like to have to keep checking to make sure the settings are how I want them. I need 3 min loop, MPH, and MP4 ALWAYS! And this frustrates me.
There is a solution that the developers could do so this doesn't happen. If for whatever reason something does cause it to revert back to default settings, I'm asking Rock if he can make a firmware version that has the defaults written to the DVR that are more USA user friendly. Or even make a firmware version specific to some people's needs. It wouldn't be that hard. If it reverts back to defaults, have the defaults better meet the needs of most people. (Because it is going to revert back at some point for some reason, and you never know when, or sometimes why) The TS format is useless for me, and 1 minute loop is way to cumbersome. Take a vote to see what defaults would better suit people in general.
It WORKED. I have successfully flashed my K2 with the K2-V70-1080P-20K---720P-15K-Bitrate_US-Defaults bin file that you made.
Glad to hear. Before we chated, I was already wondering what I might have done wrong at the firmware.😉
It's about the G-Sensor.It seems that when I set it to low (or what I think is low or less sensitive), way to the left, (one bar) it is way more sensitive. I get a lot of vids in the Park folder.
If I remember correctly,...the more the slider is to the left, the less sensitive the G-Sensor is. Where the most left position disables the G-Sensor.
So at position 1 (from the left) you should get less false positive than in any position more to the right.
Personally, even at the lowest setting I get false positives now and then. So I simply disabled the G-Sensor. With a 128GB card, it takes over 6 hours before the K2 would start to overwrite older videos. If there was a crash, it is very unlikely that the K2 will continue to run for 6 more hours, overwriting the crash video.
Either because I downloaded the video myself or because the rescue forces disconnected the battery of my bike.
@Frostie I recorded flashing the firmware. First I powered it up using the key, (ACC) and it didn't change. Reformatted, put the bin file back on, and then powered up using the silver button. Didn't flash. Here is a video of me using the silver power button. That was the clearest video, but powering up with the key or the silver button, they bot flashed the exact same way.
I see in your reply above that the K2 is supposed to reboot after it flashes. I waited for 10 minutes and it never rebooted any time I have tried to flash firmware.
@FrostieI do appreciate your time in doing this. However, I cannot get my system to update the firmware. I tried it twice with both of the new .bin files and although I did see a slight blink of red when powered up, I could tell that the settings hadn't changed. In my app it says that the FW Version is K2.20200513.VO.70. The micro sd card has always been very tricky to get in and out. It doesn't really click and pop out like on my other cameras, like my Rove R2-4K Dashcam. Not sure that that would make a difference. But I did follow the instructions very closely and believe I did it right. Maybe a whole DVR reset might allow it to update the firmware to your version(s)? Any ideas?
@Frostie Thanks a bunch. I am amazed at how helpful you are and not even an employee of INNOVV. Your willingness to help out fellow users is very generous and kind. I have a couple of questions for you.
What does 15K Bitrate do for users?
And do I have to change the name of the .bin file to just K2.bin before I copy it to the SD card? Or will it load the firmware as you named it? I tried yesterday and when I turned the DVR on with the bin file named as you had it "K2-V70-US-Defaults", it didn't do the erratic flashing of the blue light like the manual said it would. I renamed that one to K2.bin today, and it seemed to load the firmware, but the red light was blinking erratically, not the blue one. I guess I'm just not sure how to tell it is really loading the firmware. Any suggestions?
Hi patbrandon1
I'm asking Rock if he can make a firmware version that has the defaults written to the DVR that are more USA user friendly. Or even make a firmware version specific to some people's needs.
Though Innovv could release two versions of the same firmware with different default settings, I think they will not do so to avoid customers getting confused. So I modified the V70 for you to make these settings default.
Speed Unit => MP/H
Video Format => MP4
Loop Time => 3 min
If you also want the bitrate increased, just say.
You can download the modified firmware from my dropbox
The file is names "K2-V70-US-Defaults"

The battery inside the K2 is only for keeping the clock running when power is off/disconnected. It has nothing to do with saving the personal settings, as these are stored in a flash memory, which does not need power.
So no...a faulty battery can not be the reason why your K2 lost its settings.
It could have reverted back to default settings after an app update. It shouldn't, but it could.
Again a "no". When you open settings in the App, the first thing it does is reading the current settings from the K2. They are not stored within the app.
The only thing I can think of is, that the app did not send the "stores settings" command to the K2. Normally it does this right after changing a setting.
It could have reverted back to defaults after disconnecting the battery to do about an hours worth of work to put on new fog lights.
See my first answer regarding the battery. Under normal circumstances, the K2 should never loose its settings. My Test K2 is disconnected from power for days or weeks and never lost its settings.
Some little critter could have crawled under the seat, opened the rubber protector over the reset button and pressed it, but I don't think that happened.
Who knows. :-) Better enable the parking mode.
I agree with your suggested solution Pat.
