Well this battery drain issue, drained the battery of my daily ride in two days over the weekend. Came to start the bike Monday morning to go to work and zip, nothing, nada. I wasn't impressed and my boss even less so.
I hope we're all going to get this new version free of charge, I've only have the camera fitted a couple of months.
@Rock Liu When??! This has been going on since October. I don't understand how Innovv can produce, market, and sell this K2 unit globally without proper testing.
It's clear to me you didn't design the unit around a motorcycle battery and my guess is you used and referenced its function around a car battery. Motorcycle batteries are entirely different and then throw in a Lithium Ion battery which many motorcycle enthusiasts use (including myself) for weight savings and high cranking power and you have more issues. Bike electronics are super sensitive. Especially on my Ducati. A battery being drained can cause huge and very expensive problems. Modern bikes have parasitic draw and require power to keep everything operating properly and safely. If I had not read up and caught this issue, you could have potentially cost me alot of money for repairs to my bike. ECUs need constant power.
Whats even scarier to me is you rely on customer feedback in this forum for improvement rather than you and your engineers take point to know what needed to be done from the beginning. Is your team motorcycle enthusiasts? I would say they are not
I also don't understand your absence from this matter and taking this long to address. Your a business. The rest of the world doesn't care you have Chinese New Year holiday. Certainly not the US which is probably your larger sales market. Business doesn't stop because of a country national holiday....
I've already spent way too much time designing this install layout and posting to "help" on your forum. My cameras have been mounted since October and those wires ran and hidden pending the new replacement module. It's Spring here in the Northeast USA and riding season now but yet my bike is still in pieces awaiting your new module! Thank God I haven't waisted the time yet to route your power harness. Quite honestly, if I don't get your replacement module by 2 weeks time, this is going back to Ryan and the guys at OCDTronic who I have been in touch on for all of this. Ryan advised I should have 1st week of April so let's see. Please confirm asap.
As I understand,. there is a high quality electronic unit by another manufacturer that mirrors the K2 design and suppossed to be quite impressive and releasing soon. This entire event is going to hurt your Sales if this isn't resolved and needs to be now as far as I'm concerned.
New converter samples are ready, and we are testing. All data we got looks good.
In two weeks new converters will be on the way to you.
About the forum, I have been be very open and honest on the discussion and communication since the forum was set up, with the discussion, you can see whom is the guy behind of the products. we have been doing hard job on the product design, whatever we still see the room for improvement like the converter which we already made 3 times improvement and now re-design.
About the mirror/copy of the K2, we had experienced such case before. it was terrible but seems like nothing more we can do to stop them. but we are sure the two ways to compete such copy
1) moving fast on the upgrading and new developments. indeed, we have been working on that. soon an advanced new development will be release. (It is not a camera product).
2) build the brand reputation among riders, that requires a long term effort. We are happy so far the most riders are happy with the products (Even the converter needs to be improved), and supports us to go further. I believe you are one of those riders.
What is the plan? I have a 1300 v-twin that needs a good charge. I'm having to plug in the bike just to support the K2. I bought the K2 as was meant to be fit and forget but now it needs special consideration all the time.
Hi Rock, Yes but what I'am really asking is what happens once it's available? Is this just a new product only available for sale or will the existing ones be exchanged?
I too have been experiencing a battery drain. I keep the bike plugged into a charger at home. However, I am going on a five day trip next month without the charger. Could I please get a new converter to fix this issue?
@Rock Liu If I understand you well for new products with DVR S/N 2019 the issue if fixed within the DVR itself, while for products made before with S/N 2018 a New power converter is needed. If that is correct my DVR should already solve the issue, correct? How much consumption you expect from these New 2019 DVR with NO parking mode on and with it activated?
Did Rock ever answer this specific question? I am looking at buying another INNOVV 2 for my Triumph and don't want to get a unit that has been sitting on the shelf for over a year and have the very same problem I had with my BMW unit. How do you know if the dealer has a newer unit? Did they fix the issue within the DVR on newer units so the controller does not come with the blue light? Thanks!
You say that i have received an upgraded converter. How recognize it ? Do you know the date of purchase from your french reseler ? Because design is exactly the same as the old that cause battery drain (see photo).
It « should work as it should be » : you are not sure ? Are your customers beta testers ? It's not acceptable !
I don’t understand : why do you have to produce a new converter with a new chispet if the latest converter series have no problem of battery drain, as you mean ? Could you explain to us ?
I am very disappointed because I already had an important problem with INNOVV K1 (recording stop loop message). I had to replace it by INNOVV K2 but it also has an important problem !
So please send me converter with new chipset, even i have to wait few weeks.
So ... I received today a mail saying that "the engineers continue their research and hope to manufacture products that can almost completely ignore the energy consumption".
I am tired of arguing and waiting for a solution that i will be not sure it will work correctly in the future....
I don’t use the park mode, so I bought a timed relay that turn off the power from battery. No more power drain! But very expensive (70 $).
Many thanks to @Frostie for sharing the solution. But I am still disappointed that Innovv has placed a product on the market, without having tested it correctly. And the product is the most expensive on the market! Moreover, no solution has been yet formally offered to customers, although the problem is relayed since September 2018! I will not renew my trust to the brand...
We will send you with new chipset converter. Send us the email and mention about that.
I do not want to have any excuse about converter that we should make it the best.
The fact is, once noticed the issue, we take quickly action to do improvement, and get the new version which should be no problem for power drain issue.
Whatever, we noticed that there is a new chipset which can be even good. so we take action again to re-design the PCB board with such chipset, that is the reason we have the last one.
It should be delivered in two weeks.
I never want to hide something that is the only way to gain the trust and reputation.
Glad I came across this forum. Was about to place my order today for the K2 but will wait till I get the confirmation from Rock and the users about the new converter and its functionality. The power drain is a major issue as I park it on the street without the battery tender. But I do appreciate the way Rock addresses the issues and stands by his product. The free exchange of the converters is a gesture that shows he cares about his loyal customers. We all have to admit that K2 is the most well designed and sophisticated product yet in the market. I will certainly buy one when these issues are corrected.
Where has this ended up? Has INNOVV done anything about the problem. I just installed the K2 on my new BMW 1250 and I am concerned will now drain my battery.
I just bought and installed a K2 from Amazon. Firmware version K220180925.VO.39. Does this unit contain the new chipset? Should it be updated or is this the current version?
I emailed Innovv on April 9 to get on the list for the latest converter (as well as the new case with the mic hole). It was shipped around the the 16th, and I received yesterday (3 May). I thought something may be up because Rock said the new chipset units were still in test, but installed any way. Come to find out, there is still a continuous 10ma draw when powered off just like the last one, so I believe I got the same unit! Emailed again.
This is mostly an academic question, since I shouldn't have to do this, but would using a Power Hub 1/2 instead of the included power supply "fix" the problem? That is, completely remove power from the K2 when the ignition is off and Parking mode is disabled?
I just tested the current draw on my K2 with the converter it came with (purchased on April 6th).
Parking mode is off. The battery is connected to a battery tender. I removed the fuse in the DVR battery lead, and used a Fluke 77 multimeter connected to the two fuse terminals. With the ignition off, I get about 7ma for a few seconds when I first connect power, and then I get about 11ma sustained. With the ignition on, I get 360ma sustained.
So with the motorcycle parked and fully charged (park mode off), there is a constant 11ma load. Is this the newly designed converter, or does the new one drop the load even further? If so, I guess I'll have to pull the fuse if I leave it parked for a few days (and don't have it hooked up to a battery tender).
Dave- You don't want to cut power immediately because the last file will be lost.
I received an email back today saying the new chipset converters won't be in production until June. The 10ish ma draw version is the latest at this point. I'm going to put a switch inline with the red wir that will cut power if the bike will sit more than a few days until the next rev is available.
All consumers incl. my new K2 (V0.49; received 2 weeks ago) consume in my BMW K1600 GT (with Navigator and anti-theft, ...) in off-situation in 3 days 0,011V tension (from 12.776V to 12.665V).
In my eyes this is acceptable :-)
Just something to consider. While I know electronic motion detection is going to be less expensive, a mechanically activated motion detect device would use no power until it turned the unit on when motion is detected. Perhaps something similar to a "bank angle sensor" with a NO contact could be used.

Yes, you will get new converter with free charges.

Innovv needs to seriously wake up here.

Hi Paul,
As mentioned on the above, new converter will be ready in two weeks.
Hi Rock, Yes but what I'am really asking is what happens once it's available? Is this just a new product only available for sale or will the existing ones be exchanged?
@Paul Scott
You can get free exchange.
We take responsibility on that.
I just sent an email to innovv about the revised converter and hopefully they will answer my email
Hello,
I just received new PSU from french importer (see picture below). But how to check that the converter is the one with new chipset ?
I quote "We have been working on the converter to fix the problem. Changed the Chipset from the converter and redesigned the PCB"
Great ! But design of the new PSU that i received is the same... ?
Thanks
We have been testing new converter which has a new chipset. the one you have is the upgraded one. should work as it should be.
Rock,
I too have been experiencing a battery drain. I keep the bike plugged into a charger at home. However, I am going on a five day trip next month without the charger. Could I please get a new converter to fix this issue?
Thanx,
Paul
Current we can send you the upgraded one, which can work as it should be.
The new converter with new chipset, still take few weeks.
Thank you, Rock!
To clarify for other users who have the power converter concern,
The converter should work properly if the S/N on DVR shows it was made 2019. No necessary to have new one.
You can check and let me know.

The only way to build trust from customers and gain the reputation is being open & frank, taking action quickly.
Free replacing new converter to existing customers is our responsibility.
I ordered my K2 system from Amazon on April 6th. How do I know if I have the newly designed converter?
This converter should be OK

Keeping a close eye on mine and I'm not seeing a drain currently.

I noticed my case has a mike hole, must the newest case then anyway. Thanks for the info!
@Michael A Frye
It is out of topic, but as you have one of the newest models of the K2, could you please check if you can access the sd card in your K2 via usb?
This is mostly an academic question, since I shouldn't have to do this, but would using a Power Hub 1/2 instead of the included power supply "fix" the problem? That is, completely remove power from the K2 when the ignition is off and Parking mode is disabled?

Ah - thanks! I guess I'll go for the switch solution for now, and email my request for replacement converter.
You are right, the converter you received is the upgraded one, the last one with new chipset will be ready on June.
@Dave Funk
Hold a moment for asking for new converter till June.
All consumers incl. my new K2 (V0.49; received 2 weeks ago) consume in my BMW K1600 GT (with Navigator and anti-theft, ...) in off-situation in 3 days 0,011V tension (from 12.776V to 12.665V). In my eyes this is acceptable :-)
cheers Kurt
I'm getting 3 to 4 days with K2, Tracker and Anti theft too :)
I have a maintainance charger hooked as standard to any of bikes as I've had bikes go flat with no additional accessories.
Just something to consider. While I know electronic motion detection is going to be less expensive, a mechanically activated motion detect device would use no power until it turned the unit on when motion is detected. Perhaps something similar to a "bank angle sensor" with a NO contact could be used.
I use an adjustable delay off relay to solve the battery drain issue. See link below and wiring diagram:
