Attempting to update firmware this evening since the phone app won't stop bitching about requiring an update. Pull the SD card, drop on the k2.bin file, safely eject the SD card reader from the computer it's plugged into.
Plug the SD card back into the k2 DVR, power the system up, nothing happens. No flashing red LED, just the standard bootup. App is still complaining about out of date firmware. Except now the SD card in app shows 'ERROR' and 0KB in size.
Power down the DVR, pull the SD card, plug it back into the card reader, and wow... now the SD card can't be read at all and DISKPART doesn't even see the disk.
I am so sick of fighting with your garbage hardware. I have DVRs from other manufactures in my vehicles, even on my bicycle, and none of them give me the hassle that your poorly engineered overpriced barely functional time vampire does.
And it gets even better...
I grabbed the original 8 Gig SD card the system came with, formatted it, and dropped on the v0.61 firmware. On boot the system did the standard red LED flash and booted up. After setting the initial configuration and performing a card format and reboot I got the screen you see below in the app. Restarting the DVR made no difference. Hard powercycling the DVR by pulling the 1A fuse made no difference. Restarting my phone made no difference. The system refused to get past this screen, and note for the record it states, "Or click cancel to try enter pure preview mode!" and the two options are 'OK' and 'Close', there is no 'Cancel'.
So the only thing that fixed this was pulling the SD card dropping v0.57 k2.bin on the SD card, booting, letting the v0.57 firmware flash, and now the system is working... on the original 8 gig card.
There is nothing in your poorly documented release notes that indicates v0.61 would cause a failure state on my hardware.
I just spent $41.41 with Amazon for a replacement Samsung 256GB EVO Select to replace the one your DVR turned to slag earlier this evening. And your crappy little time vampire sucked two hours out of me this evening troubleshooting this garbage back to a semi-functional state.
Why is your product so horrible to work with from an administrative standpoint?
We are sorry for the problem you mentioned.
If the APP also pops up the above warning notification after confirming that the firmware has been successfully updated, then we need to consider whether the reason is on the lens.
Unplug the two lenses and plug them into port F of the DVR. In the case of only one lens (the lens is in port F), start up the power and check whether the DVR works properly.
In the meantime, reconfirm that the steps to update the firmware are correct.
1. download the Bin. file to the root of the SD card, make sure it sure have one bin file on the SD card, no bin(1) (2), the name of the file should be K2 bin.
2. insert the SD card to DVR, power on the camera and firmware update accordingly
3. see how the LED lights flashes the update complete

Please remember to use the SD card in FAT32 format to upgarde the firmware.
(sigh)
Way to not read, innov.
