Anyone had any experience of connecting the K2 to a Yam. FJR 13, particularly the yellow wire. I know it’s possible to connect to the tail light, but that would involve splicing into the harness. There are two standard sized blade fuses near the battery ( tail lamp and cruise ) both 1 amp, to which I could add a fuse tap....but there’s a cover on them.
Also, there aren’t a lot of places on the FJ to locate the GPS receiver. The favourite place is on the tail gate, but on longer journeys, it would be covered by a top box.
Would the top box inhibit the signal reception. Any ideas?
Thnx

Hi, thnx for your reply. I’ve managed to locate the GPS next to the rear camera, sitting on the tail light housing. There’s just enough room for a small hole into the tailgate, so its cable and Velcro hold it well in place. Also, it’s not covered by the top box. A blob of silicone seals the gap. For the time being I’ve jammed the yellow into one of the 1amp fuses near the battery. It’s very tight and the fuse housing cover snaps into place.....time will tell. Thnx.
On my FJR I've put the GPS receiver onto the top of the battery, but under the fairing liner that covers the battery so you don't see it. I didn't want it at the tail for the same reason as you, as I sometimes have topbox on. The down side is you have to run the cable back to the K2, but that wasn't too difficult. It works perfectly well there, though.
In terms of the yellow wire, I wanted to install an Ignition On take-off point to later power Sat Nav, Alarm etc. I tapped into the solenoid release mechanism in the left hand side of the fairing for the lockable storage compartment. It was a pain getting to it, but I figured that if something went wrong later electronically, the only thing that would happen was that I wouldn't be able to unlock the storage compartment! I too did think about a piggy-back fuse to one of the ones under the cover you mentioned, but couldn't see how to still retain the protection of the cover.
