I haven't been on here since the whole big issue on the battery drain and haven't been riding my bike much either to further test and check out the vid recordings. Anyway, I went on a ride last week and thought Id review the clips. Well to my surprise all I got were idle 10 minute clips while bike was parked in the garage. These clips occurred 12 hrs AFTER my ride starting 4:30am and recorded for over 6 hrs straight . Park feature I have turned off and no one touched the bike or the ignition to have it power up and juice up the DVR to record so not understanding why this happened. I also lost all the clips of the previous days ride since I have the unit set to record in a loop and it overwrote all the clips from my ride which not happy about. I have a 128 GB card so would easily record a full day ride and never overwrite any clips. This was why I got and like a large capacity card.
I did have the original software on the DVR which I just upgraded to K2.20190614.V0.57 just now so hoping this fixes this issue but don't see that mentioned anywhere in the history report or doing a search in the forum. Anyone else have this issue? What's the deal on this issue...anyone?
Do you have a battery charger installed? Whether that might be fooling the unit into thinking the bike is powered on so setting it to record?
Yes battery tender was connected but that should have no relevance. The K2 is connected on the bike through switched +12v ACC power on with bike ignition. Also, it started recording at 430am when noone was near the bike
@jelectronut I agree it shouldn't, but although I don't personally use one I have read some of the CanBus compatible battery tenders 'fool' the CanBus into thinking the ignition is on to fully analyse and charge, so it might be something to think of. Just a thought, but if I understand your reply you are doing direct to the battery rather than through one of the DIN powerless ports
@Steve Bendall connected straight to battery with the +12v switched wire to my headlight power
Turns out I do have the vid clips from the ride as well but they are in my Park folder. Notice some inconsistencies in vid recordings too. Sometimes there are gaps and unrecorded portions of the ride in between the files. Sometimes clips are cut short too. I have K2 set at 10 minute recordings and read that could cause issues so I will cut that down to 5 minutes. As far as the park recordings happening and being in my Video folder, that still remains a mystery to me.
@Rock Liu I need an answer on this power up issue ASAP. Started out of nowhere. I've had the bike on the Optimate Lithium Battery tender for months and this was never a notable issue until now. This DVR system has caused me nothing but problems. The unit I just realized has been running nonstop on my bike for 3 days while bike is on my battery tender parked in my garage. I realized my Optimate Lithium Charger was registering the battery at a dangerously low level. Took off my seat to reveal the K2 DVR was powered up and recording. I pulled the SD card and has recorded files for the last 3 days practically running non stop. Bike hasn't been touched so I don't understand the reasoning for this.
I can think of serveral reasons for this to happen. But most of them are speculations. So we should first check the most obvious.
So can you reproduce this behaviour and then check the voltage on the yellow wire? Or simply disconnect the yellow wire then to see whether the K2 shuts down or not?
If its shuts down, then there is something wrong with the voltage on the yellow wire.
If it does not shut down, there could be something wrong with the power converter or the K2 and we have to check the next step.
The K2 offers some rudimentary status report, but I don't know if it reports it startup reason. I have to check this.
Understood your issue, I believe you have an old version power converter, and new one as below has been released, we can send you the replacement. please send email to innovv@innovv.com, guys will take care of you.
More than the above, you also can follow up Forsite's advice to do test, and see what wrong indeed.
