I wish I'd returned the K2, its could have been good but it just isnt.
Crap android support (have to disable mobile data while connected to the K2)
Crap live feed (works for 10 minutes then stops)
And today, as I almost got wiped out by a tractor, I went to grab the video and guess what? Corrupt.
When the videos aren't corrupt, don't expect to download them over wifi unless you want to wait around for an hour or two, but it's fine right? You can fiddle around under the seat for 20 minutes trying with man sized fingers to get the micro SD card out of the DVR (Why on earth didnt you put a USB port on a flying lead so at least is was easy to connect a laptop to?
Maybe there's a recent firmware update to solve some of these issues... wait, no, nothing since 2020.
Complete and utter waste of time and a significant wedge of cash.
Avoid it.
I have a year of use on my K2, Hundreds of hours of video recorded onto it. Zero issues once I used a good SD card. (using a Samsung High Endurance 265GB card that can handle the throughput of high bitrate modified firmware + not burn out in a few months of use). Yeah the SD card can be finicky to get out unless you have longer fingernails, but IMO its pretty easy to get to. Of the 2TB of video I recorded on my K2 over the course of an 9 day trip (pulling the SD card out nightly and offloading it to an external HD), I had zero video corruption. I had a couple files at the start of some days have some weird GPS data but in general... its been pretty flawless. When I used a lower end SD card I did have some weird issues pop up though.
It was a christmas present from the wife so its less than 6 months old.
So it isn't that old. Innovv should be able to organize a replacement if you can not fix the sd slot problem by using a different card. You should contact them per mail as @Sylar@INNOVV suggested.

I really wanted it to be great, I guess the K2 DVR just isn't quite enough for it to be that, what do we have could definitely be better with a few of the niggles ironed out though.
@nullpacket
We take that down to 30mbps. Obviously not an exact science but I'd say you can reasonably expect to be able to download a 900MB video in around 4 minutes,
At the bench, I get around 10mbps while recording. With recording stopped it doubles to 20mbps. I agree...this is way to slow for downloading more than a short video in a reasonable time. Even at 30mbps or 50mbps I would not have the time to download a complete road trip. There had been several complains in the forum about the wifi speed (I complained, too). But at the end we have to live with it. The wifi connection of the K2 really is not intended for downloading.
By the way:
The chipset limit is 96mbps. This is the maximum you will get via USB. That's why I stopped my attempts to use a raspberry as some kind of wifi download station for the K2. It would be fourth the speed, but would still takes too long to download all files.
Sure an SD extender would likely work, how are you going to keep that waterproof though, I wouldn't expect innov to cover warranty with signs of water ingress at the SD card.
That could be a problem, indeed. But with some handicraft work, this should be possible. The K2 DVR is only spash-water proof.
Not sure what point you're really making re VLC, you seem to be agreeing with what I said :)
I agree with you that the app is in need of improvements. I am quite sure Innovv never intended that someone uses the live view all the time, but nevertheless this should work.
@Sylar@INNOVV
Could you please forward what @nullpacket mentioned about the stopping live view to the app developers and give us a feedback?
That said, I stick to my point about bad design or quality, this things main job is to capture that one moment I need it
It is a lack of quality control. An SD Slot which is not accurate in size must not pass the quality control.
When did you buy your K2?
@Frostie
I don't expect to download at fibre speeds but, if we take the 72mpbs the wifi interface thinks it's connected at and then, say the theoretical speed of that connection is really around 54mbps, then we allow for numerous sources of interference, distance, yadda.. yadda.. yadda. We take that down to 30mbps. Obviously not an exact science but I'd say you can reasonably expect to be able to download a 900MB video in around 4 minutes, that's still far from my experience with the K2 which is almost 3 times that, equating roughtly to somewhere around 10mbps, a far cry from that 72mbps we started with and far less than is reasonable.

Not sure what point you're really making re VLC, you seem to be agreeing with what I said :) I am aware that I can connect to an mjpeg stream with it and I am certain it works fine. I am sure the problem here is in the app or, if the problem is in the DVR (lets say the http server returns a 4XX/5XX response every now and again as an example), the app isn't handing it gracefully.
You raise an interesting point re the sd slot, it isn't the best and this could definitely explain corruption. That said, I stick to my point about bad design or quality, this things main job is to capture that one moment I need it, or more importantly, the moment I don't need it anymore but maybe my family does.
Nullpacket,
Downloading the videos is not fast. The WiFi is simply not suitable for that. The WiFi connection between the app and the K2 is more intended to change settings in the K2. The app is also not intended to view your images live while driving.
You cannot blame Innovv for the fact that Spotify does not work with the K2. The fact that your phone keeps a connection with the K2 and therefore cannot listen to Spotify is more of a problem for your phone. After all, Innovv cannot take into account all possible apps that users install on their phone. Maybe if you disconnect the Wi-Fi connection with the K2, things will go better.
I myself work with an old Samsung A7 (Android) and have no problems with the K2 and the app. So that you have to use an IPhone is nonsense.
Once again I would clearly put all questions to Innovv and mount the K2 in a different place so that you don't need 20 minutes to get to your SD card.
Harleyfool,
My experience with the K2 is that if it shakes too much, the recordings can become corrupt.
I myself have placed the K2 in foam so that it is mounted vibration-free. This solved the problem for me.
Your experience is better? So how long does it take you do download the result of a 40 minute ride over the wifi? How long can you live steam for before it locks up? How do you use Spotify at the same time as being connected to the K2? These are issues that have been raised by many users.
I'm not having a go but I am not stupid. I build and run large scale, bleeding edge container orchestration platforms for a major cloud provider for a living. Technology isn't anything new to me.
The K2 is weak, plain and simple.
As for firmware, I am running the latest I can find (V70) and I have the new power block (with the blue light).
I raised all these points with innov not long after purchase but was basically told to use an iPhone which is a joke. I should have returned it, I didn't and that's on me but potential buyers should be aware that marketing Vs reality are two very different things.
I have had similar issues with file corruption. Seems to occur randomly. Any particular settings to use or avoid to minimize corruption?
Fortunately, my experience with the K2 is better.
You may be able to provide more information about which firmware you are using. And how you installed the K2 on your motorcycle. What type / quality of SD card do you use and has the K2 always worked well before? Which power module model are you using?
My experience is that the malfunctioning can be caused by various causes, but without more information we cannot help.
And to say that it is 'Complete and utter waste of time and a significant wedge of cash.' is quite straightforward. But that's only my personal opinion.
