Hi, i just received my K2.
i allready have troubles upgrading my firmware.
once ive downloaded the K2.bin file and dropped it in the root of the SD-card the K2 does nothing and starts up like if nothing happens.
What am i doing wrong?
The K2.bin file is 3.83MB and im using a Sandisk extreme 256GB U3/V30.
The Answer to your question is quite easy.
You formatted your SD Card in ExFat, which the Bootloader cannot read. And therefore the update fails. Simply format your Card in Fat32 and the update will be successfull.
Well, FAT32 is the awnser!
Had to search for a program that could format my sd-card to FAT32.
After formatting the magic happened! whoohoo!
I should have pressed Awnser 12 hours ago but forgot to do that in the happiness that i was in.
little side question? Does the new firmware upgrade in the future require FAT32 aswell?
If future firmware is compatible with both FAT32 and EXFAT, we'll explain this in a post on firmware updates :)
Assuming you are using a SD Card >32GB, the K2 will format the Card in FAT32 when using the App. Exceptions are the firmwares v51 und v57, which uses exFAT.
exFAT was implemented to allow USB Transfer with Card bigger than 32GB, but it had some negative side effects. So Innovv removed exFat since v61.
There was a Bootloader update available, which allows it to read exFAT. But it seems Innovv removed it from their Download page.

If you are interested, I can give you a link to my dropbox to download it.
@Frostie i did format the SD card with the K2 the first time and several times later aswell. I think i have formatted the card 10 times before i tried to find a suitable program that could format the card to FAT32.
If i remind myself to format the card to FAT32 in the future then wont have issues anymore.
Again, THANKS for all the help. Hope you keep innovating!
Thank you so much for this quick and clear explanation.
I had the same problem trying to use a 256GB card to update the firmware, despite formatting it in the DVR. Eventually I used a 32GB card successfully to download and update the firmware and then reverted to the 256GB card for normal dashcam use.
@jrholmes141
I tried formatting in the dvr serval times and downloaded the upgrade 5 times before i noticed a post that stated FAT32. Because of that post i went looking for a free program to format the SD card to FAT32. That program is mentioned in the same post.
You do need to search and look carefully in the forum.
Can i use NTFS for recordings or does it need FAT32 aswell?
You cannot use NTFS.
The K2 is very sensitive regarding the file format and the partition layout. Best way to assure proper operation is to format the SD Card using the App.
@Frostie ok, i will format the SD card with the app.
Thanks again for your help and patience.
