Hi,
I realized I hadn't taken recordings off the SD card in a long time, I removed the card from the unit, it was full - transferred files to my laptop and reinstalled the card. I wanted to flash the card (reformat) since that is something we should do often. I turned the bike on, waiting for wifi to join - that never happened. I removed the seat to look at the unit. After powering off and back on, I see just the green (camera) and blue (wifi) lights blinking alternately. The unit never progresses in allowing me to flash the card (256G samsung). I took a 16G card I have, formatted it on my laptop and inserted into the unit, same thing.
What am I missing? What could my next troubleshooting steps be to get the unit back in action?
Thanks.
I saw another thread where someone suggested swapping R/F cameras - just tried that, no difference in behaviour
I have purchased Samsung 256G sD card and have had errors with the card and went back to using my 128 sD card with no problem. You mention power off and back on the DVR , you need to unplug the power wire completely for a minute or two and plug back in, not using the button to power on and off big difference. When ready to check it TURN ON THE BIKE FIRST. If this doesn't work with a paper clip insert into the DVR reset whole for 10 seconds to reset the DVR.Also check your formatter program to Fat32 is working proper. I would purchase a new card to make sure it isn't just the card that is giving you viewing problem. I hope this fixes your problem
Okay, so I grabbed the v70 higher bit rate bin file from @Frostie and that seemed to correct the alternate flashing. I now see green led on with blue (wifi) led flashing. I still don't have the wifi showing up on my list of networks in my cell phone (android). I checked on my sd card, there are new files showing up there, so it seems _mostly_ okay now but the whole reason I wanted to access this in the first place was that the settings were not to my choice. (MPH/KPH, MP4/TS)
Could you kindly try to use another SD card first? Also, please make sure that the location service and airplane mode turn on with your phone.
I have another sd card ordered - I will keep this thread updated, thank you.
π Thank you for your feedback here.
make sure your android phone operating system is up to date. If it is try deleting the K2 app and then reinstall it. And as always unplug the dvr power wire and plug it back in this should enable you to see k2 in wifi again. When you do the above procedure with an Iphone you go into setting and forget the K2 wifi . Then turn off and back on the wifi button .
Hi, I put in a brand new SD card today. I am still unable to connect via wifi to change the settings. As you can see below, it is working.
The only setting changes I want to make is set to MPH and record in MP4, not TS. If this can be achieved with a custom bin file or some other method of modification, I am perfectly happy with this as a solution.
Hello, thank you for your feedback here. Do you mean that the alternate flashing problem on DVR has been fixed already with the new SD card? The new problem is that you could not access to the Setting via INNOVV App on your phone. May we know your phone model first?
Hi, so I think that I was mistaken, assuming that the led flashing was an indication of the problem. I believe the actual problem is wifi-related.
Phone is Google Pixel2 running android 11. I also tried to see the wifi SSID with my wife's Apple iPhone XR - still no signal.
By removing the card from the DVR, I can see that the unit is still recording from both cameras - this is good news. If I am able to alter settings without having to use wifi, this is okay.
@mnahack Thank you for your prompt response here. Do you mean that you could connect the K2 Wi-Fi on your phone but you could not go to the Setting page? Could you kindly provide a video to illustrate the indicator status when connece the DVR with the power source? Also, please kindly provide your App version and the firmware version.
You could install a beta firmware, which enables logging to the sd card. This way we could see if the DVR logs any error messages when starting wifi.
You can find this firmware called "K2-V71_with-Logging.bin" in my dropbox

After flashing, just start up the DVR and try to find the wifi. After that check the sd card for the logging folder. Most of the files are dumps and not human readable. But there will also be text files named by the date/time of startup. These are the console logs, which I could check for you.
If I am able to alter settings without having to use wifi, this is okay.
There is no way to alter the settings without wifi, except changing the default values by modifiying the firmware.
Well, I am in your debt @Frostie
I flashed with the logging version, and then the wifi was available!
As you can see, phone is connected.
I made the setting changes I wanted:
Thank you to all who posted helpful suggestions - this is a fantastic community!
Hmm...it is nice that wifi now works for you, but I don't understand why.
Anyway....the logging firmware is a beta firmware, which I never tested for a longer time. So I can't promise it runs fine on a longer trip. But if the logging folder does not annoy you, you can leave it installed and see what happens.
But I am curious what would happen to wifi if you install back the V70.
I reverted the firmware to "stock" v70 and then tested again, everything is now functioning as normal - not sure why or what happened but I am glad to have things in order.
πGlad to hear that the Wi-Fi and setting work fine now. We would also forward this to our relevant colleagues to further check and will have a better and faster diagnosis of this kind of problem next time.
Then I can only guess that there was a wrong setting, which got corrected/reverted by the flashing process. Whatever. Good to hear your K2 is now working as intended.
