Had the K2 for 5 days now.
Overall its pretty good. I have a few issues that I need to look into.
1 - The lens seems to black out in the bottom (say 4 and 8 O'Clock) A bit like the lens has Glaucoma...
2 - I start my bike, put helmet, gloves on, ride off, but recording doesn't start until I am a few miles away, has to be at least 5 minutes after setting off, and maybe 6 minutes after starting the bike. An I supposed to wais 6 minutes before setting off?
3 - I have to do something with how I transfer the files, WiFi just doesn't cut it. My bike (R1250GS Adventure) automatically powers off after X minutes, not sure exactly how many, to preserve the battery, the WiFi hasn't managed to transfer a 3 minute file before the bike powers off. I cant view from the bike, stream, as it doesn't stream, it just jitters from frame to frame. I have an iPhone XS Max if that makes any difference.
So far I have not been able to download or view any recording, only when setting up on live view.
On the plus side, it only took 30 minutes to set up on the bike, only having to remove the tank panel.
Does anyone have any thoughts on my three issues?
Bob,
Welcome to the forum. I've had my K2 for about 6 months now. Not an expert by any means, but will offer a few thoughts on your issues from my experience with K2 on my Harley Street Glide.
1. Did you take the protective covers off both front and rear lenses? That's the only thing I can think of unless you got a bad camera, unless there's some sort of blockage near lens.
2. My recording starts at pretty much the same time the DVR starts, so say 10-15 seconds after application of power. If I can connect to DVR with wifi, then I can see recordings. It sounds like maybe your DVR might be waiting for GPS signal lock, but I don't think that will inhibit recording.
3. File transfer via wifi is a recognized non-starter. I use a large capacity microSD card (256 GB) so I don't have to remove it so often, but I do file transfer by removing SD. That means I typically leave the protective cover off the DVR where the card goes (which probably eliminates it from being waterproof), but I have DVR mounted in a readily accessible Kuryakyn bag on my lower front engine guard so I can observe the DVR lights and get at card easily.
I would advise reviewing some of the other posts on this forum, but your issues sound problematic, like maybe you have a bad DVR, camera, or both. Hopefully Rock Liu or Frosty will chime in with advice - they seem like some of the most knowledgeable folks on the forum.
Good luck!
Thanks for your reply.
Ok for point 2, I connected and see loads of videos in the Incident folder. All the first couple of recordings seem to go in there, I have no idea why, and can’t seem to move them either.
I managed to download one 3 minute clip, loop is set was 290mb. I had to leave the bike running and it took just over 14 minutes to download!!!!!
Does anyone know where they end up on an iPhone? I can’t seem to find the clip anywhere.
I may have to look at mounting the DVR in a more accessible place, but that won’t be easy, as it’s currently under my rear seat, and the way the cables are routed, and DVR is facing, I will have to disconnect then to get to the SD card slot. But to be honest I wasn’t expecting to have to remove the SD card to pull a clip each time.... My last camera, downloaded 10 minute clips on no time, Just it was battery powered, and kept forgetting to keep it charged etc, the Innovvv being hard wired, transfer through WiFi, seemed perfect.....
The plastic has been removed from the lens, it did occur to me that they may have been left on, but I did remove them. I will take a look to ensure the lens is clean tomorrow.
Keep the motorcycle stationary, take off the seat, turn ignition on, you can see WiFi & Recording LED on DVR is flashing after 10 seconds power on delay, and then try to access the camera via WiFi.
Later turn on/off for few cycles and check if it is working properly. If not, just take a short video and upload to the dropbox link below.

If you are able to reach DVR, find a USB cable and plug it to the micro USB port and link to computer, that will be even faster.
Hi Rock
Point 2, I managed to work out, all the first few go into the incident folder. When I start up, and the next couple of clips for some reason. I have no idea why, how do I move them?
Point 3, I did try that, however my PC couldn’t see the DVR. It’s not easily accessible either, I have to take the DVR off the velcro and use tweezers to remove the rubber, then again to remove the SD card. Very fiddly.
I have an SD card extension that may help me, but being able to use the USB would be great.
Ok, I did some testing this afternoon...
After reading through other posts, I reformatted my SD to exFat through the app. I can now see the DVR through my laptop, BUT only if the rear camera is disconnected 🤷♂️ if as usual, both cameras, power and GPS are connected, I cant see the DVR on my laptop.
Once the rear camera is disconnecte, and I transfer MP4’s, I disconnect the USB, the DVR doesn’t power off!!! I disconnected for 20-25 minutes, came back and the DVR was still on. I powered the bike up for 10 seconds, and shortly after i turned the power off on the bike the DVR went off.
So basically using a USB to take files (after disconnecting the rear camera🤦♂️) the DVR seems to get confused and doesn’t power off unless you “re-power“ it and off with the bike.
The K2 is so buggy, and has numerous niggles that really need sorting out. I mean why does the rear camera need to be disconnected to be able to read the DVR.... When the DVR is in its place, I can’t easily get to the rear camera thumb screw, and disconnect it. I have to remove the DVR, cables etc.
Can this be looked into, it should work very simply, but ”just doesn’t“ 😡
Hi Bob,
Please click below link to update to the last version of Firmware. V0.61
https://www.dropbox.com/home/Wix%20website/INNOVV%20K2/Firmware
You can use USB to connect DVR to Computer and download files. No need to remove rear camera.
@Rock Liu I am using V0.61, and I have to disconnect the rear camera.
@Bob Phillips @Frostie
Please follow the suggestion from Frostie, and we have been working on this bug.
And please send me the message via email to do further support in need.
There is a whole thread about USB-Transfer and when it works (and when not).
https://www.innovv.com/forum/innovv-k2/solved-usb-port-and-data-transfer
In short:
You need V0.51 or V0.57 and have to format your sd card in Exfat to make USB Transfer work.
At least when using a 128GB card. I don't know if it works when using a bigger card.
Without Exfat, you you need to disconnect the rear cam for USB Transfer to work.
In the new V.061 firmware they removed Exfat, as it has problems when using a 256GB Card.
So in the V0.61 USB does not work when using a Card >32 GB without disconnecting the rear cam.
@Rock Did you forgot this fact?
My recommendation is to use the V0.57 in combination with a 128GB Card.
That's strange. I just tried to reproduce this behaviour, but without success. If I power up the K2 using USB, it simply switches off when I remove the USB cable. It only stays on if ignition is switched on.
So I guess that, for some reason, your power converter thinks ignition is switch on. How did you connect the power converter (especially the yellow cable)?
As a work-around, you could manually power off the K2 after USB-Transfer by pressing the button on top of the K2 for around 5 secs.
Hi @Frostie Thanks for getting back to me.
I need to check what firmware I have, I did download a new firmware update when I got the K2, as the app said I needed to (iPhone XS on IOS 13)
I have connected the PC to positive and negative and the switched live to the red/blue fused wire under the riders seat.
@Bob Phillips
Did you check if the red/blue wire under the riders seat really is a 12V switched power?
And that there are really 0V if the ignition is switched off?
@Frostie
Have guys to do double check on this point.
@Frostie Yes, I did.
Also when I don’t use the USB, power on, ride etc, power off, it goes off in 10-15 seconds.
Just to make sure I got it right.
Ignition is turned off. You plug in USB and the K2 starts up.
You remove the USB cable, but the K2 stays on.
If you switch on ignition/start the bike, wait some seconds and switch ignition off, the K2 powers down after 10secs.
Is that correct? If yes, it would mean the power converter constantly supplies power to the K2 instead of switching off after some seconds.
Just as a test, please disconnect the yellow cable and start the K2 by plugging in USB. Wait till it has started up, then unplug USB. If the K2 stays on, I would guess your power converter is faulty. If the K2 switches off, you should triple check the cable where you connected the yellow cable.
@Frostie Yes points 1-2 are exactly as it is.
I will recheck at the weekend now. When the USB has not been plugged in, it works as expected. It seems that the connection of the USB confuses things.
I will do some more tests this evening to reproduce the behaviour at my spare K2. Maybe I can give you some advices then what to check to narrow down the cause.
Do you have other small SD card? if have, can we try on.
In my mind, the important thing is to get the camera to run smoothly, turn engine on/off, recording start/stop.
Please send email to rock@innovv.com, and let me know your phone number, I'd like to call
I don't have another SD card, well I do have a few 256GB's but I don't suppose they will help.
At the weekend I will check and update the firmware, although I had to do this last Monday when I got the camera, I am unsure what version it is.
