Hello, I tried to upgrade my firmware for the first time under my K2. I use the file located in the folder K2.20190420.V0.49-USBreader I upload in the sim card under the root
The device flash like the video instruction show, but it is only doing this since more 30 minutes now. I think it is just looping while since I have doubt that is take more than 30 minutes. Someone have suggestion to help me?
Thanks in advance
What power supply to the camera system when firmware upgrading?
The USB port from Laptop is not powerful.
The better is the power from motorcycle or mobile phone wall charger.
Hello Mr. Rock,
Thanks for your prompt response.
I leave the camera system connected to the motorcycle. I was not aware that I can connect another power. If I power off the motorcycle engine, the light cycle still continue. Maybe I should disconnect the camera system module from the bike to trigger off the unit and try again thru mobile wall charger. I will try that tomorrow except if you suggest me different approach.
Regards,
Ian
If the led stays on even when the ignition is turn of, then the K2 completely crashed and is looping now. You will have to disconnect all power cables to stops this.
For flashing the firmware you can power the K2 using the USB port and a power adapter with at least 1,5A output to be sure.
Hello Mr. Rock,
Here is what I tryed.
1- Disconnected the camera module from the bike (even if the ignition of the bike was Off, the light cycle was there)
2- Remove the Micro SIM card
3- I look inside the Micro SIM and the firmware bin file was no longer there
4- I uploaded again the firmware bin file in the Micro SIM
5- Insert the micro SIM card in the camera module
6- Connect a micro USB connector of the camera module to a 2.1A adaptor (quality adaptor of Apple iPad)
7- The light start to make the ceremonies again, for few minutes (I see in the manual that it take around 45 seconds so after few minutes, I disconnect the power
8- Remove the Micro SIM card and see that the firmware file is no longer there (the module seem consume the formware file)
9- Insert the micro SIM card again and power the camera module, issue still there, light ceremonies still there.
10 - Power Off the module, remove the micro SIM
11 - Power On the camera module, still light blink
So, I am not able to apply the upgrade, from the orginial version, which was probably corresponding to the orginal one, since I bought in pre-command last year and was one of first client receive the K2.
Also, note that I discover that I change my motorcycle battery which I tought it was to renew, and bought Lithium one, since I always buy the top quality (price is not issue for me) and realize that my battery was fine and was because of the power module of the K2. I saw that you seem resolve the issue with new model and the support ship me new one. (waiting the parcel). I was not using since I bought the module, because of logistic to plug the camera, which now are in place. So I figured out bette to upgrade the firmware to put all the latest version and here is where I am. Hopefully you will able to help me to finaly be able to make it all work properly!
Thanks in advance
Ian Poisson
Thanks Frostie for the recommandation. I have done this, but not working. Also, I am not able to start in any scenario the camera modulem since the light blink like the firmware behavior is continuously there!
Ok..during the flashing process, the red LED should flicker rapidly two times. Did yours flicker two times, too? If not, then there is something wrong with the bin file. You should then check if the file on the sd card is ok. Maybe you removed the card to early from your PC without unmounting it first, so the file on the card could be corrupted.
I had the same effect as you when I tested my modified firmwares and messed the checksum of the file.
Thanks Frostie for your help. The WiFi, camera light are continually on for few seconds and camera light flash at the beginning. I was taking care to unmouting my micro SIM from PC. But make sense that the file could be corrupted. I download again from the website and download the ZIP format this time and unzip from my PC as well and copy the BIN file in the Micro SIM. I try again the process and same pattern... I format the SIM card and upload again the BIN and retry and same issue...
So your camera led (the red led) flashes rapidly one time, but not the second time?
Then the flashing process stopped because there went something wrong when reading/checking the bin file.
- What size is your sd card? Larger sd cards should be formatted by the K2. But as this is not possible for you, you should try a card with 16 or 32 GB.
- Did you formatted the sd card with FAT32?
- What is the name of the bin file on your sd card? K2.bin or k2.bin (upper or lower case). Could be possible that the K2 cares about that (same as Linux does).
Last idea: Try an older firmware (V39).
If that all does not help, I guess you need support from Innovv.
Thank you for professional support!.
You help me a lot.
Hello Frostie, thanks for your help and recommendation. Yes not the second time. My SD card size is 128GB so probably since I format from my Windows PC, it is not anymore recognized, including the firmware BIN file. I will try with the older firmware’s but I need to buy another lower SD card capacity (32GB) and try the process from another PC, to discard the issue from the SD and the PC transfert. I have doubt that it will work since I tried 2 times with 2 times new download, except if it is an issue with the last firmware version, but here again, probability I don’t know... Will see, I need to wait 2 days to receive from Amazon the item.
Hello Rock,
I bought another micro SD of 32GB, another adaptor and even another computer and retry the apply the firmware. The module seem detect the firmware like my previous trial but always restart flashing process. The module is not usable at all. I start to think my module have issue. I will write to the contact support by hopping that you can exchange it quickly.
@Ian Poisson
If DVR has issue, for sure, you should get replacement and we do support on that. Just wondering why such thing happened as the camera system is recording properly.
Will send you the email to get this issue fixed.
@Ian Poisson
Just a thought but you mentioned that you formatted the card 'on your windows PC'. Are you sure it's formatted to FAT32 and not exFAT. If so try this util here http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
Hello Rock. After all these unsuccessful trials to upgrade the firmware, now it work! My issue was that both camera was not connected because I am not yet have the physical camera connection to the motorcycle frame. So, since the beginning the camera was not connected. However, connected to my iPad power supply and mini usb, including both camera, now the camera module is working, and I even have the firmware version 49, dated on April! So, overall, important to know that camera need to be connected!!! I am waiting my new PDU power supply that you ship to me, to resolve the drain battery issue, so as soon as I will receive I will connect all to the bike. I look forward to finally use it for the first time!!!! Thank you very much Rock, Frostie and Greg for you great help! Fortunately, the module is not defect and every thing look fine by now!!!
Glad to see the problem fixed, and more than that, happy to see we have a good community, that get people together and support each other.
@Greg H @Frostie, Thanks for your valuable input.
