I have a K2 unit installed on my 2019 Harley Softail. There is a lot of unnecessary cable from each of the cameras. Can I simply cut out the unnecessary cable length and solder the wires back together or does this create other issues?
The bundle of excess wire is large enough that it creates a problem. I have been running it with the wire bundled up all summer and want to spend some time cleaning up the installation. This particular model of Harley has almost zero room under the seat and behind the side covers.
Apologize for any inconvnenience that has caused first. We are sorry to inform you that faulty device caused by dismantling, cutting, and soldering cables are beyond the scope of warranty. Therefore, you are suggested to coil up the excess cable and put it at other parts of the motorcycle. Also, we will forward this to our colleagues and take this into consideration for our future product. May you have any other question, please feel free to contact us.
why not just coil up the excess cable and conceal it.much easier than cutting and soldering, also doesn't invalidate your warranty

Given the sensitive electrical signals that pass through these cables, it is not advisable to shorten and solder the cables.
If you make the cable a little warm, it will be easier to roll up.
The same goes for extending the cables. I've been to a situation where I needed a longer cable.
