that sounds like the boot loader did not found the firmware file or was unable to read it.
The first reason for this could be, that the file was not named correctly as "K2.BIN" and was not placed in the root directory of the SD Card. The next reason could be, that the SD Card is not formatted as FAT32, as the Boot Loader, which is responsible for the flashing process, does only support FAT32.
From V52, the K2 uses different formats when formatting the SD Card using the App.
SD Card Size less or equal 32 GB => FAT32
SD Card Size greater than 32 GB => EXFAT
This means, that if your SD Card is bigger than 32 GB and you are using V52 (or greater, then the K2 formats the SD Card in EXFAT, which the Boot Loader cannot read. See my posting here
HI Frostie, I read this in your other thread after having problems upgrading from v52 to v57 on a 128Gb card, so it was a great help
But I would say to Rock this is an important point that is not mentioned anywhere on the site for firmware downloads, and really needs stating clearly in the FW upgrade guide, otherwise every user upgrading from v51 onwards with large cards is just going to make complaints. Shouldn't to go searching Forums for consumer suggestions, as helpful as Frostie's is
More worse than that...the new K2 FAQ is wrong. It suggest to format the card using the App before doing an update. But this only works if the card is 32GB or smaller. If the card is bigger, the update will fail.
The FAQ says:
Do I need to format SD card when first time to use it?
No, You do not need it.
But you need to format SD card inDVR via App before firmware upate.
Only correct if using firmware prior V52 or if SD Card is 32GB or less.
Download bin file to SD card, but can not update the firmware
Check below,1. be sure the file name is k2.bin, not k2.bin(1).2. k2.bin file is at the root ofSD card, not in any folder.3. format SD card in App before firmware update.4. two cameras plugged into DVR.5. power supply is 5V 2A.
Same here. Only correct if using firmware prior V52 or if SD Card is 32GB or less.
@Frostie Agreed, I had exactly the issue until I saw your post, Innovv need to update their instructions. I ended up formatting the card in my laptop, saving the v57 file then applying it to the DVR. Next fw update will at least know now to do the same, in app formatting I'll use only to clear out files
The Bootloader of the K2 is very sensitive regarding the format of the SD Card. So are you sure you formatted the SD Card in FAT32?
I press the reset button(device turns off)...I turns it on again
and nothing happen "wrong password"(12345678)
I just tested it and yes, you are right. Pushing the reset button does not reset the wifi password.
@Rock Liu You should change this behaviour. Doing a reset implies that the K2 reverts ALL settings to default. This includes the Wifi Name and Password.
We have been thinking about to go like this way, but there is below situation and keep the current setting, that only can get to be default by firmware update.
The K2 had been installed on a group of police motorcycles, they want to keep recordings to be security, WiFi name and WiFi password should be changed.
If press reset button, All will goes to default, and someone may be able to access the wifi and delete the recordings.
Ok. Got your point in that special case, where the police want the K2 keeps its Wifi settings. But that is no behaviour a normal user would expect. If you push the reset button on e.g your home router, you would also expect it resets all settings.
So maybe it would be a good idea to give the police a special firmware version which keeps the wifi settings, while the normal user gets one which resets all settings.
And by the way: If I get access to the police K2 to push the reset button, I could also change the SD Card to get the recordings :-)
Only after I have been formatted the SD CARD by Rufus the DVDR booted and updated successfully completed. (what about to push SW updated trough application ? )
It is not way to say, Police department is important and individual customer is not.
Only because we consider the security reason also works for all, so we say, only updating firmware to get default password.
Press resetting button to get all settings to be default, that can be added to to do list.
I have to take chance to say, we do not do well on firmware & app bug fixing and upgrading, just have ideas and create the thread as below for discussion.
I saw this thread yesterday and held my head in despair as I am not very good with software issues. This morning my phone updated the Innovv app and I didn't know which version it was. The only way I know of seeing what app version I have is to connect it to the dvr and look in settings. So I tried it and it said version 1.3.3. Then I got a big notice saying I have to upgrade the firmware to match the app! I have a 64gb card and a 128gb card and was expecting trouble! I downloaded the file and put it on the 128gb card and, with heart in mouth, tried it. And it worked ok. Am I lucky or has someone fixed the issue?
Well...in some way you are lucky. I guess you updated the DVR from a version prior 52 to the latest one. All version before 52 uses FAT32 as the default filesystem when formatting the sd card. Regardless of its size. So your card was formatted in the correct file system and the bootloader was able to read the update.
From version 52 on, it depends on the size of the sd card which file system the K2 uses when formatting the sd card using the App.
Less or equal 32 GB => FAT32
Greater 32 GB => ExFat
So now, as your K2 is on version 57 (I guess), if you format you card (> 32GB) in the K2 , it will use ExFat as the filesystem. And with that, the firmware update will fail.
I updated from 37 to 49 in May 19, and then from 49 to 52 inJune 19, and now from 52 to 57 today. I keep a log of all the software changes because I don't understand how it all works! I use 2 cards, a 64 and a 128, because I have the shock setting switched off. So really, I should have had trouble going from 49 to 52? Is that right? And I should have trouble with the next one unless I change the way the card is formatted - and I will have to format the card from the DVR? Will altering the format of the card cause problems trying to view the video on the PC in the future? And presumably, after reformatting I will lose everything that's on the the card at the time. Life shouldn't be this complicated.......

I had the same problem. Would not upgrade on 128gb SD. I used a 32Gb card and it works. Then re insert my 128gb.
I have tried with (8GB\64GB\256GB) same issue.
no updated happen .
in addition I forgot the DVR wifi pass and i cant reset it.......
I press the reset button (device turns off) ... I turns it on again
