Hello everybody.
I registered in this forum and this is my first post.
I recently bought the K2 for my 1981's Honda CX500C and had a big problem right from the start.
After searching this forum I found the solution as there are already a few threads about this.
I just wanted to add a new post with the title matching the error message to easier be found also per Google.
I've got a K2 with the latest firmware from Sept. 2018 and a smartphone Samsung S8 with Android 9.0. To test the K2, I connected the two cameras and GPS and powered it per USB connector.
After connection to the K2 per Wifi and selecting the gear icon (settings) in the INNOVV K2 app on the smartphone, there was an error message:
WARNING!!!
Camera initialization failed,
please insert two lenses
again and restart the came-
ra. Or click cancel to try to
enter pure preview mode!
1. There is no cancel button to click. There is only "OK" and "close".
2. It's not a problem with the "lenses" connection, but with the app itself, so the message it
also totally misleading.
When switching the smartphone to airplane mode and then opening a Wifi connection to the K2, everything works fine.
Obviously, the app is distracted if not in airplane mode and is trying to reach the K2 via the mobile data connection over the internet?
Since I wanted to use my smartphone on the bike for both having a connection to the K2 to control it and hearing music per streaming over the mobile data's connection to the internet simultaneously, it's vital that the K2 app allows this. In addition I use google maps for navigation. That's all where I need airplane mode to be off. I think this is a valid use case?
I paid €380,- and for that I'd expect a working application and wonder, why this hasn't been fixed yet as this seems to be a quite common and known issue?
I also contacted the INNOVV support team and wrote them the above description and hope there will be an answer soon.

I got already an answer from INNOVV support, which I want to share with you:
Hi Wolfgang,
Well noticed your question and I'm pleased to assist you.
Due to the limitation of android system itself, you cannot use 4g network when you connect to the APP under normal situation.
When you want to use the Internet, you can only turn off the WiFi, which means you can't use both at the same time.
Our engineers tried for a long time to get both to work, unfortunately, we failed.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Fxxxx Cxxxx
I'm not sure if keep the K2, as this really is an issue.
I cannot just use two smartphones to have connection to K2 as well as online navigation available at the same time while riding the bike. May be I'll stick with my GoPro ;-)
Hi Wolfgang,
Thank you for the input. We have tested Samsung S8 with Android 9.0 again, it works fine.
Please reinstall the App and see if there the changes.
More than that, Do you have other phone to connect the camera system and see if it works?
There is WiFi connection conflict that we have not been aware the root case. Airplane mode blocked the other connections to phone, that help to get WiFi connection to be stable.
Dear Rock Liu,
unfortunately I cannot test any more, because I sent the K2 back already for refund.
The reason I sent it back was the connection issue, another reason was the image quality.
I took the K2 for a test ride in my car and compared to another dash cam I have installed which also has Full HD 1080P resolution. The footage of the K2 was low in contrast and even it was filmed on a bright sunny day, the ID-plates of other cars driving in the opposite direction weren't readable, not one of them.
The video also showed many compression artefacts.
Comparing with other footage on youtube filmed with the K2, some of the cameras seem to show the same quality as my tests showed, others seem to be outstanding good with crisp videos, like the example video on your K2 product page.
Sorry for not having better news.
Hi Wolfgang,
you sent your K2 back to early.
Regarding the compression artifacts, there is already a solution. You can increase the bitrate for the front cam by using the hidden command or for both cams by installing a modified firmware.
And regarding the low contrast or sharpness in the videos...I got the same effect when played around with the settings and did a system reset. After that the sharpness drastically decreased, so that I could hardly read the number plates of incoming cards. I guess the K2 switch to a wrong settings preset at that moment. The solution was to install an older firmware and, when done, re-install the latest firmware. That switched back to the normal (very high) sharpness.
I am now having the same issue and I cannot enter in the settings or in any other option in the app.
I've just checked that the K2 works fine as I can see the movies in the SD card, that by the way, is not "evident" to extract and it was difficult to "rescue" it when it dropped down once within the bike... As usual, the last files as are "cut" are useless and I wanted to see again the settings to make shorter videos as maybe the "most" interesting, unfortunately, could be precisely the las ones!
I've just updated the app with the same result but, in addition, the app now crashes after the error message.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy J5 2017.
Regards
Similar problem on my Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 with Android 8.1.0 .
Firmware 0.49 loaded in the K2.
App version1.2.9 on the phone crashes continuosly.
Same firmware with APP 1.2.7 is working.
Tested with and without Airplane Mode.
Tested also with and without Location enabled on the phone.
Today I've installed the update of the app and is always crashing in my Samsung J5. I tried also from "flight mode", then activating wifi, with the same result.
Trying with another phone (Blackview BV6000s) it works fine. I could not install the app in my Samsung T2 tablet to test.
This is happening from the last firmware update to v.49.
