Hi! I've been having issues running the K2 system on my 2018 BMW GS Adventure. I've installed it about 6 months ago.
The unit seems to create interference with the bike's electronics, which causes it to repeatedly go into limp mode. https://youtu.be/ySiEg28Ah8s .
After a couple of visits at my local BMW dealer, I was asked to disconnect the K2 as, in their opinion, it was the source of the problem. I ran without the unit being powered, no issues for a month. Reconnected it, same problem again.
I moved the K2 from the control unit located under the driver's seat to under the back seat. Same issue.
Running the latest firmware version.
Can you help? Anyone ever had this type of issue?
Thanks!
You could also try powering the K2 unit with an external power source with zero connections to the bike. This would allow you to understand if the K2 is causing interference from stray signals or if connecting to the bike's electrical system is the issue. I would throw a spare bike battery in a backpack or somewhere on the bike and keep all K2 wiring separated from the bike.
Just a thought.
Thank you Marc, sorry for the inconvenience caused.
You can let us know the result after trying again, or you can email us for the other assistance.
Thanks
Thank you for your support.
As you know, I did install the firmware but the K2 would not start anymore. I'm waiting for a new unit to try to test again.

According to the feedback from relevant customers during this period, we have launched a Beta firmware.
This firmware does not have WiFi function.
After you install it, K2 system will normally record video after the motorcycle is turned on.
We hope to test whether there is interference caused by WiFi through this beta software.
You can download it by clicking the link below.

Or you can simply turn off the GPS function and see if there is any interference.
Waiting for your update!
I am a little bit terrified. That a TPMS Receiver gets overloaded by a nearby Wifi sender is one thing. Annoying, but technically explainable. But that the whole motor management can be disturbed by a nearby Wifi sender is something completely different.
If possible, please test what happens if you remove the front cam.
Where did you connect the yellow wire to? Could it be possible that you connected it to a cable that is under Canbus control? If yes, the reason for your issues could be the K2 power converter.
Hey guys, Just realized that the front camera was still connected! My mistake. So the Wifi still might be the issue.
As for the installation position, at first, I had positioned it in the center of the bike, on top of the control unit (gray metal), with Velcros. The BMW mechanic was very insistant on me removing it from there as it may cause overheating, and, once again in his opinion, was the source of the issue, due to possible wifi interference.
Yes, I've read the TPMS post.
Once again, I'm not 100% sure the K2 is causing the issue, but it seems more than likely.
BTW, I left the bike for a whole week so extensive tests were done. He was able to read multiple error codes from different origins, that made absolutely no sense!
But once the K2 was removed, nothing appeared, until I powered it back on a few weeks after.
Regarding the EZ-Can, I'm more than reluctant to use it with the K2 as it is work perfectly now. I want to keep both systems isolated.
I'll continue the tests the best I can and keep you posted.
Just looking at your installation photos, notice your K2 is mounted on top of what I believe is the alarm unit, can it be shifted forward, and less central, that's where mine is. I also note you have a Hex EZ-Can, have you a spare circuit because you could try setting that circuit to be a switched simple circuit and tap the yellow switch feed to that - I had it originally like that - admittedly I changed it and an it direct to a rear light feed in order to rule various things out, but I notice you tapping to a connector further forward and not knowing what that is I wonder if that might be introducing some feedback that if routed through the EZ-Can might remove?
Hello all,
I had another limp mode issue this morning, I was running without the front camera.
I was very fortunate not to get hurt as I was driving on the highway.
I'm afraid I will not be able to complete the tests as it is too dangerous.
The last test I will do is to ALWAYS turn off the Wifi from my iPhone when using the bike with the K2 activated.
The mechanic at BMW was never able to reproduce the issue, and he never drove the motorcycle with a phone with him. He feels that having the devices trying to connect remotely might cause the problem.
I'll keep you posted.
As the discussion through emails, please help to do tests, and let's see which parts caused the issue.
Where have you tapped the power supply and the switched power supply?
The new position of the K2 it right above the TPMS control unit, but no issues for me. I'll continue my investigation, hoping that a future firmware will permit disabling WiFi all together.
Thanks for your reply.
Some people have issues with the TPMS on their BMW while the K2 is running. And it seems very likely that the TPMS is sensitive to the Wifi signals of the K2.

But I did not read someone has problems with the Canbus or motormanagent.
