I agree - this system is useless. It wont connect to WiFi (yes my firmware is up to date) it doesn't ever record, the GPS never works and in total I'm utterly disappointed by its performance. A friend of mine bought a similar system for a third of the price and its great...I'm also upset as it was a present for me and I don't have the heart to say how poor its performance is. This week its getting ripped out and put in the back of a cupboard and forgotten....very disappointed!!
For the Wi-Fi problem, may we know your phone model first? Also, please kindly turn on the location service and airplane mode and try to reconnect the Wi-Fi again.
For the recording and GPS problem, please kindly check the recording and GPS indicator on DVR first.

No Wifi and no recording is an indication that the DVR does not start up correctly and keeps resetting itself. The most common reason for this is, that the DVR can not detect the front cam. In that case, it keeps resetting in its effort to resolve the problem.
If you are still not too frustrated, we can try to find out what is going wrong.
To do this, I would need a video of your DVR when you power it up. Just to see what the led will show.
Have you ever tried reinstalling software?

disconnect your power wire from dvr completely wait 2 minutes before connecting.
@kenneth johnson Why take the power off the K2 for 2 minutes? This does nothing.
The best reset is to reinstall the firmware. The K2 will keep its settings.
This is my experience. Although I keep the K2 voltage-free for several days, settings are retained.
