I removed the SD card from the DVR this morning and viewed the videos on my Windows laptop. I noticed that all the files recorded today were TS files whereas those recorded previously were mp4.
I reinstalled the SD card, powered up the DVR and connected the app with the intention of changing the file format back to mp4. However, when I viewed the settings, many of the others had also changed from what I had set, eg. speed had changed from mph to kph, loop from 10 minutes to 1 min, WiFi from 10 mins to never, etc. It’s as if the app had reset itself and the DVR overnight. Can anyone suggest what might have happened?
this happens to me too... which firmware of the k2 and which bersion of the app are you on?
The app is v 1.6.0 for Android phones, the K2 firmware is v 0.67. I think they are both the latest versions.
Hi P248,

The App does not save the settings of the K2. In fact, whenever you open the App and open settings, it reads the settings from the K2. That's why you cannot open the settings without being connected to the K2.
If your App now shows all settings reverted to its default values, this means your K2 has resetted.
Normally, this only happens after...
..installing a firmware
..using the "reset to default" function within the app
..pressing the reset button on the K2
Beside these, I never experienced a reset during my tests. And I really did weird things to the K2 :-)
If you did nothing of the steps mentioned above, it could be that the puffer battery within the K2 is faulty/empty. To check this, configure the K2 as you like and disconnect it from any power source. Then, on next day , start it up and check the settings.
Settings still there => Battery seems to be ok
Settings reverted => Battery seems to be empty/faulty.
Thanks Frostie, I'm pretty certain that I didn't reset anything in the App or press the reset button on the DVR between the mp4 videos recorded on 6 May and the TS videos recorded on 7 May. I'll check out the DVR battery as you suggested.
Hi,
After our tests, if the DVR battery is taken out, the Settings will not be changed.
But if you update the firmware, the Settings will change to the original mode.
You can wait and see if the Settings "change themselves" again.
I assumed, that the battery is not only for the RTC, but also to power a CMOS to keep the settings. If that is not the case and the settings are saved in the flash memory, then you are right and the K2 should keep its settings, even with the battery removed.
But then I have no idea how the K2 could loose its settings overnight
I used the app to apply the settings I wanted (mph, mp4, etc.), and then disconnected the power supply to the DVR and left it disconnected overnight. When I reconnected the power the following morning and switched on the K2, the settings shown in the app had remained as I had set them. So that’s good, but it doesn’t solve the mystery of why the settings changed previously.
Yes, there is little chance that the Settings will all be modified to the original data, either in terms of how they work or the power supply.
We didn't have that in the experiment.
This is very rare, I have submitted your feedback to the engineer, maybe they can find out why.
Thanks Innovv. I'll let you know if the problem happens again.
Whatever caused the problem has not happened again. All settings have remained as set since my last post
I have the same issues since updating to the latest FW, As the TS format lacks GPS data makes this not practical in regards to any evidences and I have suggested that MP4 is the default and not the TS format.. Is there anyway to go back to previous FW releases as I'm unable to work with the latest FW release?

Sure. Simply download the firmware you want, put it on the sd card and install it.

@John Locke In this web you can choose the previous version.
