Just trying to find a useful link or instructions on how to update. The DVR said to update it, however I cannot seem to find any instructions on how to do this through my Mac. Any help is appreciated.
It is called "firmware update", but in fact you don't install an update, but the complete (newer) firmware. So you can simply install the newest one and your are done.
And, of course, you can also go backwards and install an older one, if you want.
Are the firmware updates all-inclusive? In other words, if there is v1.1, v1.2 and v1.3, do you have to install each in the order released or does each new version contain all the items in the prior releases? Normally, it's the latter, and I only installed the latest firmware release when I set up my K2.
The root directory is the top most position on a device.
So "Put the K2.bin in the root folder of the sd card." means that you must not put it in any folder, as a folder would already be at least on step below the root directory.
Just copy the file beside the INNOVV_K2 folder, so that when looking at the sd card you see both at the same time (see screenshot in my posting above)
The whole update or flashing process is quite easy:
If not already done, format your sd card with FAT32. This is the most important part, as the flashing process will fail if the card is formatted in the wrong format. If unsure, format the card using the "format" option in the K2 App.
Remove the sd card from the K2 and put it in the sd card reader on your pc
Download the desired firmware file (OEM or modified). If necessary, rename it to K2.bin.
Put the K2.bin in the root folder of the sd card.
Insert the sd card in the K2 and power it up.
Watch the red photo led. After some seconds it will flicker rapidly for the first time and some seconds later it will flicker rapidly for the second time. After that the K2 will reboot and you will see the other LEDs switching on/blinking. See the linked video above.
@Andrea Z. Don't know if this is possible. I must admit, that I never changed the wifi name and password. The wifi is only active when I am at my bike and start driving. So if someone tries to get access, he has do be really fast :-)
Im using a MAC, Ive previously formatted the card. But now need to update the firmware. How do I download the new firmware onto the card and put it into the root folder of the SD card ?
You should have got a small, white card reader with you K2. Insert the sd card into the card reader and plug him into your computer.
Download the latest firmware file https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qnr7k5j3702qzgj/AAB_f-zFjaRViCB7AN3xUUPga/K2.20190420.V0.49-USBreader/K2.bin?dl=0 and copy it on your sd card, like mentioned above.

Hey could someone dumb it down a level for me, what is the root directory? Is there a folder name I need to drop it into?
There is a short update instruction in the firmware download section

And there is also a short video which shows the LEDs during update process.

You are done.
