Evening all. I never thought I’d be looking for help with such an expensive system.
Basically two problems after the system system was tested on the bench.
Firstly, connection errors. Repeated failed connections. If I power down, reset the app and configure the WiFi it’s 50/50 if it will connect or not.
Secondly, if it does connect, there’s no input from either camera, just a black screen with zero mph and other info,
Any help greatly appreciated.
Rob
HI Rob,
sorry to hear your having troubles. If you haven't already done so I recommend the following;
1-make sure your using the latest dvr firmware and app version
2-double check you camera wire connections. I had trouble with the barrels not Fighting down correctly. I ended up Teflon tape on the barrel threads when I installed in on my bike.
3-I trust you know there’s a “reset” in the settings menu in the app?
Hopefully you don’t have a bad dvr. The WiFi is slow at best when it’s working so don’t get your hopes up when it comes to file transfer. You have to remove the sd card. I know its not the best but I actually have a couple 256gb cards I swap out. Good luck sir..
if all all else fails reach out to Rock. He will take card of you..
Hi Kevin,
Many Thanks. I’ll work my way through your suggestions to see how I get on. The bike is in for a service today so I’ll have a try tomorow.
Regards
Rob
Well, now I'm into two months of ownership and ready to remove the whole system in utter disgust and frustration.
In July/August I did a big trip (256gb High Endurance card) and when home I was horrified to find erratic recording patterns. Sometimes the front was the only camera to record, sometimes only the rear, sometimes neither. There were big gaps between the files if it did record, typically 20 seconds. Great in the event of an accident! The first half of the trip recorded the speed on the file, the second half didn't!
I've just done another trip (64gb San Disk Extreme card) and there's not a single fie on the card. It's recorded nothing even though all of the twinkly lights are doing what they should!
Any suggestions before the whole thing gets removed. Thanks in advance.
Well...I have some ideas you could check before returning the whole K2 back.
First question: What firmware version do you use on your K2?
In July/August I did a big trip (256gb High Endurance card) and when home I was horrified to find erratic recording patterns.
First tip is:
Use a smaller card. The K2 does have some issues with cards bigger than 128GB.
The erratic patterns indicates that the K2 has crashed or powered off unexpected. Often the power connector is the source for this. As made of plastic, it is often malformed. In that case, if you screw it on, it thightens way to early without fixing the connector. The result are connections issues while driving, which leads to corrupted video files. So please check this.
The first half of the trip recorded the speed on the file, the second half didn't!
The GPS antenna is of average quality and really needs a free view to the sky. I mounted mine in the front of the cockpit and everything was fine. But when I mounted my navigation system, which blocks some of the "view", the K2 GPS had problems to get a good reception.
I've just done another trip (64gb San Disk Extreme card) and there's not a single fie on the card. It's recorded nothing even though all of the twinkly lights are doing what they should!
The K2 is very sensitive regarding the filesystem layout of the sd card. Therefore I would always format the card using the app. Especially if you are using cards bigger than 32 GB.
Did you check the PARK folder, too? If the G-Sensor is enabled (which it is by default), every time the K2 detects a shock, it moves the file to the PARK folder. Unfortunately the G-Sensor is way too sensitive for a bike, especially on default settings. That leads to the K2 spreading the files across VIDEO and PARK folder.
Simple solution: Disable the G-Sensor.
Hi Frostie,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm trying to use the latest (not .61) version of the firmware. This has been saved to the root of my SD card which was formatted in the app before downloading the firmware. The DVR does not flash as expected or shown in the example video and the app shows the firmware version is still .49 - no idea why the DVR is not accepting the firmware.
I'm now not using the 256gb SD card which is frustrating as it was bought specially for the K2 and both the supplier and the Innov website talk about 256gb card usage.
The power connection seems fine. When the lights are lit there is no flickering suggesting a bad connection.
The GPS is mounted on a redundant GoPro mount which sits outside the bodywork by the indicator and has a clear view of the sky at all times, nothing to block the view of the sky.
With the 64gb SD card formatted in the app, the penultimate k2.bin file in the root of the card, the card in the DVR and then powered up, the recordings (set at 10 minutes) are as follows.
19:28.02 to 19:28.06 - 4 seconds
18 second gap
19:28.24 to 19:29.29 - 65 seconds
63 second gap
19:30.32 - 19:30.36 - 4 seconds
86 second gap
19:32.02 - 19:32.07 - 5 seconds
That summaries to 78 seconds recorded and 167 seconds missed!! That over 50% missing!
To add insult to injury, the files for the front are clouded and the front is full of condensation, not bad for a product in which the "materials and manufacturing process were specifically chosen so that our products can perform without hesitation in the demanding environment of motorcycling".
Anybody shed any light on this?
Hi Rob,
regarding your issues flashing/updating the K2, please take look here.

Oh...it would not flicker. It would simply switch off, causing corrupted files.
So if you pull and push the connector, the two sides are not moving within the screwing?
19:28.02 to 19:28.06 - 4 seconds 18 second gap 19:28.24 to 19:29.29 - 65 seconds 63 second gap 19:30.32 - 19:30.36 - 4 seconds 86 second gap 19:32.02 - 19:32.07 - 5 seconds
So you get four video files. Are these videos playable? Or are they corrupted?

In my eyes there are several possible reasons for your issues.
The firmware on your K2 is faulty. I saw this on my K2, which rebooted now and then. Re-flashing the firmware solve this. So you should try this first.
There is a power issue. Cable, connector or the power converter itself. So you should double check all cables and connectors. Shake and pull them while the K2 is running just to see what is happening
The front cam is faulty, due to condensation, and and causes crashes. The K2 is sensitive regarding the front cam. Without it, for example, the K2 will constantly reboot. So it could be possible that a faulty front cam lets the K2 crash/reboot now and then. To check this, you could swap the cameras on the K2.
