Hello everybody, I recently installed a new K2 unit on my Yamaha MT07 (Europe) and I am facing a problem: the fuse breaks every time I switch on the engine.
That's what I did:
connected red and black cables directly to the battery, the yellow cable to the back light, always on as soon as you turn the key on.
I was able to connect to the unit and see the videos, cameras and gps has been installed with no problems, but, as soon as you power the engine on, the fuse breaks. I ordered some new and it keeps breaking.
Battery value is around 12.5v when engine is off and around 13.4-13.7v when on. I have the latest version of the power converter, the one with "blue" LED that never worked for me, it requires 1A fuse instead of 2.
The DVR works fine, tested with a USB power bank.
Do you have any suggestion how to fix it or should I simply ask for a replacement unit?
You have connected the yellow cable to your back light.
But is this the + or the - of your back light?
If the yellow cable is attached to the - of your backlight this can cause the problem.
Thank you for the answer, the yellow cable is connected to the +12v cable that brings power to the back light and it was initially working fine (it should not start at all with gnd ) . The main problem is the fuse that breaks as soon as I start the engine. Not sure if it is due to the 13.5v instead of 12.

Seems there are some power spikes from your generator, which kill the fuse.
You could try using a slow-blow fuse instead of the normal one.
I tried again yesterday, engine off, as soon as I put the fuse it burns even without the DVR attached. I checked the voltage and since the motorcycle was off, the yellow had 0v and the battery 12.5v. Also used some needles to measure the output, 0v, then connected the yellow cable to +12v, still 0v. I think I got a defective unit, it is not how it should be.
I have the same issue right now. Was there a fix?
I sent it back to the shop and got a refound, probably the unit is defective.
