So I noticed that in most cases with me the Recording stopped failure happens when I have a drop in batter voltage.
Was thinking. What if an inline batter was put in place between the power source and the DVR. Think on of the USB battery packs.
Now you would need one that started charging and recharging automatically but think this could solver the problem.
The battery pack would simply act as a UPS. Something the onboard battery should already be doing.
Also has anyone else though of installing a heat sink on the DVR or even the battery?
many thanks
I ended up removing the battery permanently in 2018, (owner since April 2017) and it helped a little with the "recording stopped" issue, but it's still doing that regardless. I found next that slightly wiggling the cables where they connect to the unit, causes it to stop recording. Mostly the "font camera" cable connection does this, with the slightest wiggle. Bad connection in the unit for sure. I long ago quit using their plastic clamshell type clip that snapped over the wires where they connect. Seems like it didn't hold the wires in the "sweet-spot", and caused continuous failures. I think last year, 2019, I had it disconnected most of the riding season. It had only worked a short time after installation, and I didn't pursue a refund or replacement. I wish I had, but was too late. Should have known the first version of their system would have been lousy. I don't understand how they didn't know in advance by their own trials, that it was not working right. And then went to market anyway. I have pondered getting the K2, but I don't feel the company is the right one to deal with. Yesterday I was out, and hooked it up. Same hit-and-miss recording, recording stopped etc. Today I'm trying to "save a clip", and am just struggling with the software. The Datacam player help link's go to suspicious pages that I didn't dare click into them. The whole Innov experience has been really bad.
