So I see a lot of people bitching about the "recording stopped" and everyone feels the need to post their own thread about it. I've given a lot of feedback and suggestions that have fixed my problem and it seems like everyone is experiencing the same problems I was.... random stop/start recording.
After I removed the battery completely in my K1 system (so there is no battery backup), all of my problems have gone away so the battery was my problem, the only time it stops and starts recording now, I'm assuming, is when it has to delete a video file because the card is full... but that is easy enough to fix by occasionally formatting the card on the K1 itself.
This post isn't to call anyone out or tell anyone to stop complaining about the product if it is truly broken, I was a motorcycle rider at one point but a move across country (and no garage to store it in) and too many close calls have made me sell my bike. I want to see all of you guys that do ride protected from the idiots that cannot drive a vehicle effectively. I'm not siding with the Innovv company as I have no stake in this system, I'm not siding with anyone here that is having problems, I'm just trying to get you guys to try something.
If you are having random start/stop problems, try removing the battery completely and let the K1 run from the system voltage only, even if it is for a week. It has now been 2-3 weeks since I removed the batteries and all of my problems are gone.
If you do remove the battery, post your results after a ride/drive so that others can see whether or not this possible solution works for you.
Good luck.
I have had my K1 for a couple of years now, and the results are mixed. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes it does not. I have tried a different 5VDC converter, but went back to the original unit.
I have solved the "Recording Stopped" loop...by unplugging the GPS, and for the last week or so, the K1 has worked perfectly. All i really care about is that the unit records video. This may or may not solve the same problem for someone else, but it has worked for me.
@damian:
what i did was run my power directly from the batt by connecting both red and yellow to the positive. but i extended the yellow and included a handlebar switch so all i need to worry about is remembering to switch the system on and off.
This is still a massive issue as potentially the last recording may become corrupted and not written to the sd card correctly all the time if the power is simply removed!. Imagine you have just had an accident and then the power is killed to the bike by someone. For example when I was knocked off my bike the police turned off the ignition. So it's still pretty useless and you cannot count on having any evidence of an accident 100%.
Thanks for sharing!
Motorcycle has far tough condition then a car, there are a list of challenges on camera system. I believe all K1 customers have seen, we are not going to make cheap products, we just want to make good quality products.
On other hand, we know customers' feedback and support are very important for improvement. we have many customers who are skilled, experienced, working with them helps us to make products even better.
