Please advise how to update from Mph to Kph ??

I have looked at your previous posts and tried updating firmware to get speed in KPH,

but when I download the bin file to the root of SD card and power DVR on nothing happens.

If you just put the .rar file (from download) at root, it will do nothing.

You need to unrar (winrar or 7zip maybe) the file and put the .bin in root folder. Then you restart (power off/on) and it will ask you if you need to upgrade the firmware. After it will display km/h. No need to look into the options, it seems it's hardcoded so you cannot switch between mph & kph. There is another firmware to put it back to mph.

Thanks for the feedback.. don’t know what I’m doing wrong as I tried this & put firmware update in as a .bin file on the Sd card but it’s still not doing the update.

It seems I'm the only one driving with kph, how lucky i am ! At first i put the downloaded file (.rar) on the sdcard... it didn't worked. So i formatted the SD card via the DVR function and go back to my computer with the SDcard to put the .rar file on it again, unrar the file. So i ended with .rar, a new folder (k1-r180_en_KPH_firmware) with the .bin inside. I put a copy of "k1s.bin" out (root). Then when i started on the DVR, it asked confirmation for the firmware update. When it's done, the DVR deletes the .bin file automatically. I removed everything else not used or i formatted again i don't remember.

Thanks Chocolatine ... tried again following all your steps and still nothing happened ... this is so frustrating that its not working. Maybe our original firmware that came with the unit was different ? Mine is K1S_V5:R266/170516 6948 HW_V5 ... Considering I live in Australia I need this unit to record in Kph & not Mph. You would think that there would be an option in the menu to change between the two.

Looks like it is not useless to complain here, finally. ;)

ok, we have a different firmware, mine is v3.

Hope it will solve the problem for everyone that needed kph.

Hi Rock, V5 firmware above is not working. When I put .bin file on sd card and turn unit on, it asks if you want to update. click on OK and it says "update failed" .. now my unit won't record when motorbike is running. The previous V5 update I did also stuffed everything. Camera keeps rotating from normal to upside down & computer can't recognise the file format of recorded data. Please help this is very frustrating as the unit worked fine until I did this upgrade. (apart from it being in MPH)

OK i have the same error as Liza King "update failed"

Come on fix this problem and put some decent documentation on your site regarding this issue.

Rock Liu, I formatted the disk from the dvr unit and removed it from the unit and then copied the bin file from your rar file to the disk.

After restartiing with the new bin file in the root of the disk on the dvr its starts as normal....disregarding the bin file.

So I tried them both (from your post)and they do not work, the dvr unit completely disregards the bin files.

Any further suggestions?

The version I have on my unit appears to be

K1S_V5:R266/170516 6948 HW_V5

Which firmware version should be compatible with this unit? At least I can target the correct firmware to be used on my device and give you the correct feedback regarding the errors that I am getting?

Liza, Trevor, did you guys fix your problem?

Nov 2, 2017

this has not been fixed

the version of firmware that Rock Lui asked us to use on Oct 20 gives an ”update failed” which at least the dvr is recognising and acting on, its just not taking correctly.

the version that Rock Lui gave me two days ago is being ignored by the dvr unit.

No my unit is useless at the moment.. updated firmware doesn’t work & my current firmware doesn’t record in the correct format so you can’t view any footage

seeing as i cant seem to get it to work, i would like to return it for you to fix.

  • After receiving all possible failures from this product, a logical question arose. - So how to buy spare parts for INNOVV K1 from you (manufacturer)? After buying the battery, it turned out that one of the cameras (rear, but installed in front due to the length of the wire) also came out of standing. - How and how much does your new camera cost instead of a defective one? - Where, how and at what price to buy safety glasses for cameras? - Where, how and at what price to buy a new power supply for the camera, because the old power supply does not hold stable voltage and current, as well as poor contact at the USB A female connector due to flat tracks? Remind everyone that You can buy battery pack from GoPro for: HD Helmet Hero, HD Hero, HD Hero 2, HD Hero 960, HD Hero Naked, HD Motorsports Hero, HD Surf Hero part numbers are: ABPAK-001, AHDBT-001, AHDBT-002
  • Hi Rock , as per my post in the K2 forum, the K1 has been brilliant up to now, but following that post, I think I spoke to soon !! last night I went to download the footage but the unit is completely dead, won't turn on , nothing, the charging light on the side is on (faint white light) but nothing happening. I tried a reset, plugged it back into the bike, nothing, completely dead, any ideas what is wrong? thanks
  • So I noticed that in most cases with me the Recording stopped failure happens when I have a drop in batter voltage. Was thinking. What if an inline batter was put in place between the power source and the DVR. Think on of the USB battery packs. Now you would need one that started charging and recharging automatically but think this could solver the problem. The battery pack would simply act as a UPS. Something the onboard battery should already be doing. Also has anyone else though of installing a heat sink on the DVR or even the battery?
