I've been using the K1 since I got it in Dec 2016. Installed on my bike, a Daelim Daystar 125cc cruiser.
I've had to change the power box, and dvr on two separate occasions - the latest being the dvr which I managed to burn out on May 20. Everything was working fine for a while, no issues, then I noticed something:
1. connections all correct.
2. battery not charging so barely any standby power in parking mode.
3. video interrupts every time I horn.
I'm not sure if it's EM interference from the horn, cos I moved the horn away from the front cam and it still interrupts. Could it be inadequate shielding of the cables? Excessive power drain to the horn?
What I've tested is that no interruption occurs if the front cam is disconnected.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
I had similar problems but EMI supressors on each of the four USB inputs cured it. You could try powering the unit from a different battery as a test.
get some 9mm Ferrite rings for the usb cords to help with RF/EMI interference
Thank you, Steve, and Jim.
Will try to source for these items.
Sidenote:
Does this mean the various cables for the K1 are not shielded?
No they are not, if you check most of your USB cables for computer, camera etc the have ferrite rings on them which will reduce or eliminate interference
Could be a low voltage condition as you mentioned. My K1 (Car version) will go all squirrelly if I have a momentary power glitch. When I was testing it in the car w/o their 12V to 5V power adapter and just using a cigarette USB power plug, the unit with both cameras drew too much power and the unit would randomly say "recording stopped/recording started" Unplugged 1 camera and it was pretty reliable.
As for EMI, I run a 440Mhz 40W UHF Ham Radio transceiver with no issues so far. (I do not have any Ferrite cores on the cables). Antenna is about 3 feet from the camera and DVR. However a horn, if a traditional mechanical horn, can introduce a lot of hash/noise on the 12V power feed. A filter unit could help there.
Hello Jason,

All various cables are shielded for K1. You should consider to make the 12V power filtered.
Just like the followed potential reason

Update:
I got my three ferrite sleeves in the mail today. Put one near the front camera, one at the input usb to the video unit, and another on the power usb. Tested with the horn, and everything worked well - no glitches!
But... I did notice the power usb is a little loose... Sighz...
Anyway, thanks again for the advice!
Hello Jason,
Glad to know you had fixed the issue now.
For the power USB connection is a little loose, Be sure, you have installed the cable connection clip to fix the connection between cables and DVR.
Meanwhile you need to try to fix the DVR combination with all cables ,in case your bike over the rough road.
