This might well look confusing, which is because I am completely confused myself.
I bought 2 C5s about a year ago, one with the 12-5v converter, which is fitted on the bike, the other fitted to my helmet using a 5v power pack. Both worked OK after fitting, for a while.
The helmet one stopped recording after about 4 months. The DVR would power up, but the camera wasn't recognised. Rather than go through the agro of a warranty claim, I just bought another one, which appeared to work. That was in Feb/March time.
I've checked the footage recently, and all I have on both cameras are sporadic recordings of between a few seconds and 15 minutes (the DVRs are set to record 5 minute chunks, so go figure that one).
I am sitting here now with the helmet camera and both DVRs, to see what is going on, and I can't get either of them to power up, either with a 5v power block or a wall powered USB supply.
All that happens is the red light comes on once, then nothing.
I wondered if it's the SD cards, which are Sandisk extreme cards. I'd accept it could be them if it would power up, but I doubt it's the cards that are causing that.
Any ideas? I just want a camera that switches on and records when I ride. If I can't trust it, it's not worth having.
Dear Sdrio
Sorry for the C5issues, you mean all 3 c5 are out of work? they all cant be powered?
Could you please connect the dvr with lens, and try to charge the dvr with a usb line? to see if the dvr can be powered or not? You can contact innovv@innovv.com for better communication.
I've tried with a portable USB power pack, and with a normal plug-in to the wall USB power supply.
All I get on all of them is a single red light blink. Then nothing.
We now have another new problem - as instructed on your website I went to update the C5 app, by deleting the one I have installed, but when I went to the app store to install the latest one, it's not there. Have you removed the C5 app from the app store? I can do nothing at all without that.
[edit] Firstly, thanks for replying anyway.
Second - when I plug into the USB pack, the lights on the pack light up, so it is drawing power.
I do occasionally get one of the DVRs to wake up, but it doesn't record. I would accept that perhaps it's a problem with the cable, but this is a new one bought to replace one that failed, so are they that fragile?
These were bought on Amazon, so I don;t know who the supplier is.
Dear Sdrio
You mean you connect DVR with Lens, and charger the dvr with usb but it also cant be powered? all 3 DVR same situation? as you mentioned C5 app, you can find in google play or Apple Store, you cant find C5 since all models are in one app, such as C5 ,K2,.
And for the supplier, can you please show us your buying note via mail? we will ensure your rights and see how to solve this problem.
Awaiting for your reply.
OK, I'll reply by email. Thanks.
I've sent an email, but I'm going to update here.
Having spent now several hours playing around with all these things, I am about 90% sure it is actually the wiring on the lens parts that is bad.
When I plug into the helmet cam set, which I have removed from my helmet to test with, the DVRs are intermittently working. If I plug in and nothing happens, but then I move the DVR, it sometimes wakes up. This happens for both of the DVRs I have with me.
So, if that's true, I have three cables that are faulty - one that died in June and was replaced, the one that replaced it (which is the one I'm using) and the one on the bike which is creating intermittent recordings.
All 3 DVRs seem to be OK, not that it helps.
