Up until today the C5 has been working OK-ish, I was experiencing problems when trying to make changes to the settings and looking at footage in the C5 via my iPhone I'd noted the K2 owners were getting the same issue due to IOS 12 and software update were in the pipeline (hopefully the C5 is also getting them?)
Anyway I went to try and down load a file via the app today and I'm getting an "unknown device" message when I try to log.... The camera is recording (pulled the card and can see footage) I just can't get into the device from the app.
Rock would this be down to the IOS issue or something else?
Two ways to check what wrong it is.
1. Switch your phone to airplane mode, and enable WiFi, to see if possible to see C5 WiFi.
2. Find an other phone to see if possible to see the C5 WiFi.
My iPhone does not see the wifi network at all on the DVR. Going to try network reset but no dice so far
Good to know. Thanks.
I think IOS 12.1 update to the update of IOS 12 will be out tomorrow or the next day, that might help with the update problems...Also
If you have this problem again try either of the following and post results please...
WiFi Assist , if enabled ,automatically makes your iPhone switch to using your phones cellular data plan when it detects a weak WiFi signal. That's good for internet signals and browsers but not so good for the K2 DVR which does not use internet signals or cellular data.
Introduced by Apple in iOS 9 ,disabled by default, is now "enabled by default" in IOS 12 .
If you can not connect to a wifi SSID that you can see, try disabling it by..
WIFI Assist...To turn it off, go to Settings —> Cellular and scrolling all the way to the bottom, or a slightly easier way...
Turn Airplane Mode "on"..this disables cellular data, wifi and bluetooth.
Then enable WIFI only and try to connect. if it helps then disable "WIFI Assist"...
Unbelevible , I've just popped out to the bike to try and reset the wifi SSID network in the phone. I
thought before I do that I'll try and connect one last time, it only connected straight away...... I spent a few hours yesterday messing around and nothing, today it's working........
I've still got an issue with not been able to play back footage in the phone thats stored in the camera, you have to download it into the phone before you can play-back... I was able to do that pre IOS 12, so hopefully thats been looked at by INNOVV and we will get a S/W up-date to rectify the problem.
Thanks everyone for the posted advise.
If it's your phone that won;t connect , and the C5 is like the K2, then the app will not see the DVR. Could be due to password not being the same between what phone remembers and DVR has.
Found Sometimes firmware update will reset some or all settings to default making it impossible to connect to phone till the wifi connection is reset.
If DVR is working correctly and video files look good on PC ( insert SD Card in PC to check) and you see Innovv SSID, wifi reset should clear the problem and ask for a password, either yours or the default.
If that doesn't correct the problem, there are other tricks and changes in IOS 12 that might help. It's not always a firmware update problem...
Hi thanks for the reply. Yes I see the SSID, when i try to connect you see a green circle of ! marks going round then you get a message stating "unknown device, unable to connect" or something very similar. I'll try the forget networks settings tomorrow and see what happens. I've already tried reloading the firmware in the DVR, deleting the app then redownloading in the phone and a desperate final reset the dir via the reset pin hole. I didn't think to try forgetting network settings, so thanks for the advise on that.
App will not connect to DVR if phone loses the C5 connection.
Do you see the Innovv SSID "wifi" connection in your phones wifi settings, if so, try to connect to it. If you can't, select "forget" connection in wifi settings and then try to reconnect. Ron on K2 site could see but not connect and did a "Network Reset" which is same as "forget" only covers all connections not just the one..
Copied from Apple Support....
"Reset your Network Settings."
"Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before."
You may have to reset the DVR to factory and use default password if your password does not work.
Other wise , what exactly are you having a problem with and what are you seeing....
