Hi all, quick question. I put my DVR unit under my seat. I noticed yesterday when I went to retrieve the SIM card, the DVR unit was extremely hot. Is this normal or should I relocate it?
Did just your DVR get hot under your seat, or is this also a hot spot? After all, you are (almost) right above the engine block.
The DVR unit can get warm, but as Frostie writes, it has a good cooling capacity, but where which cool air must be able to flow. You can drive around while the DVR unit is switched off to see if the DVR unit still gets warm. If it is indeed called while it is off, it is not the DVR unit's fault. It is then wise to give it a different place.
The DVR gets warm, but not hot. If yours get really hot, you should relocate it. The aluminium case acts as a heatsink for the DSP, so the DVR needs a minimum of air flow and must not be covered.
Normally there is enough air flow under the seat. Can you post some pictures of how you mounted the DVR?
Hello, please do not allow anything to cover the DVR, and the DVR is with aluminum alloy, so it is with excellent heat dissipation function. If you feel it is too hot, you can turn off the ignition for a while and make the DVR cool down.

I guess you are talking about the K3.
