I just recently installed the K2 system. It seems to work fine in as much as the cameras are working and recording, and I can review video on my phone no problem (mostly). However the recording stops and starts during my rides at irregular intervals and for no apparent reason, and doesn't start until I'm well into a ride (10 or 15 minutes after setting off).
In the morning the recording always seems to stop when I come to a stop at the same stop light near the end of my 25 mile ride. It starts again immediately and catches the last few minutes of the ride, but why is it stopping at all?
It stops at other random times as well. I haven't managed to record a single full ride yet!
And why is it not recording the first 10-15 minutes? That's not at all satisfactory. Any ideas please? Any suggestions for a fix?
Thanks in advance!
I don't know if this will help any of you above but I've had the K1 and K2. The K1 was MUCH better but, sadly, not waterproof. The K2.... well, I don't understand why it couldn't have been made more user friendly with the ability to connect directly to a PC via a USB and/or have the ability to update via the APP for things like firmware. The present method is very "old school". When it works, though, it works well.
Rant over....
On the subject of intermittent recordings: My experience is that the device is very sensitive to "interference" and heat. On my previous bike (Tiger 800), because I am OCD with cabling, I routed the cables (power & camera) over the engine but under the fuel tank. This was a K1. This gave me intermittent recordings and I noticed that when I thrashed the bike or the engine got hot (as the tripple does) the recordings stopped.
I now have a BMW GS and I don't have to route the cables over the engine, but over the tank, under the shroud. As a back-up I have also fitted FERRITE BEADS on the cables (3 - no need for the GPS) just in case. This eliminates any interference. Up until I had the K2 fitted (I removed it because it was draining my battery!) I had no problems with intermittent recording. I am just in the process of re-installing the system because INNOVV have supplied me with a new converter which doesn't drain the battery.
In summary then: Don't route the cables near any source of heat or interference such as the engine or alternator and place some ferrite beads on the cables for good measure. It would be nice if the system came with them fitted.
HTH.
Was the 15 minute issue resolved??
I formatted the card in the INOVV dir using the app, so it should be good, and the video is recording fine, so the drive formatting is not preventing that. It's just breaking the recordings up into pieces in different folders. For my purposes it's not a big deal - I can retrieve any video I need now I know where to look. But it does seem to be an issue that needs to be addressed since you do not specify that 256GB memory cards are not supported. I'll leave it here. Thanks.
I did not buy another SD card because I realized that I already had the latest firmware. I was only going to buy another card to get and install newer firmware.
It seems like there may be a bug in your software, and maybe it shows up when writing to a 256GB card. Has nobody else reported this? Has anybody reported anything like this with any other size of SD card?
I checked and found that v.064 of your firmware is the version I already have. It was released at the end of December and I downloaded it in early January. So I don't think that's going to fix the problem. Also, just so you know I'm using a 256GB SD memory card (Samsung EVOPlus MicroSDXC UHS-1). It seems to be saving the recordings OK, but the creating and saving of the videos is the issue.
Ok thanks. I'll need to get a small capacity SD card and format it so I can do the firmware update. Last time I messed around with formatting a large (256GB) card it stopped working and I had to get it replaced, and I don't want to mess up the replacement. I'll let you know how it goes...might take a day or two.
Yes, it is strange and not very satisfactory. Please find a couple of screenshots attached as requested:
You can see that the first video in the top picture starts at 06:48AM, and the first video in the second picture starts at 07:03am - exactly 15 minutes later.
The same is true for the videos later on the same day (these are my commute rides) - The first one starts at 17:11pm, and the second one at 17:26pm.
Also, you can see that the third video starts exactly 15 minutes after the second.
Incidentally, the first videos which are in the "Incident Recordings' folder in the App (see above), are in the 'Parking' folder on the memory card when I view it on my computer. (Confusing!)
Looking forward to your fix for this issue. Let me know if you need anything else from me.
Thanks!
Thanks for your response - glad to hear you're out enjoying your holiday! :)
I've figured out what's happening. The video's are being made in 15 minute increments. The first 15 minutes of my rides are being saved in the 'PARK' folder on the memory card (I didn't look in there before as I didn't have the PARK setting turned on), and then the rest of the ride is saved in the 'VIDEO' folder in 15 minute increments. The video stops every 15 minutes and then immediately re-starts, so I have three videos for a 35 minute ride!
I have checked the settings and the 'LOOP' setting is turned off and the 'PARK' setting is also turned off, so I don't understand why the recording is being broken up into 15 minute segments or being saved in the PARK folder.
Do you have an explanation and a fix for me please?
Thanks!
Well at this point I'm assuming I'm in the wrong place to get any support from Innovv, yeah? :(
